  • Are you serious? You think being competitive is what makes people only play these games?

Sweetie, there are plenty of other competitive games out there and usually they have transferable skills.

We don’t “need” the amount of fighting games we have but people rotate between them on a regular basis because they don’t have the same kind of predatory practices that keep people locked into a specific one where if they switch to another they’ll feel like they’ll lose out on their progress and the potential that they then wasted their time on the previous game.

  • Initially because i had a HTPC and windows with big picture mode still felt like a second class experience as there were no system settings in big picture mode itself. Went to bazzite as soon as i got an amd card.

Then I had a surface go 2 that could no longer update to the next version of windows because Microsoft didn’t give it enough built in memory to process the download. So i went to arch hyprland and gained so much more time on battery and things ran smoother. So now all of my other devices (except a work laptop) are now on Linux (cachyos is my go to now).

  • Yeah that’s mostly what i use it for. A way to search for things that i can’t describe well enough for a traditional search engine so I can find out at a glance what it’s name is and if it’s valid for my situation. If it is then I go look up documentation. Any time I’ve stayed in the LLM past that I eventually go down a rabbit hole of wrong ideas that aren’t always obvious until you get a bit too deep and you’ve wasted an hour with an incorrect solution.

  • I’ve just gotten used to knowing i can get the latest and greatest and AUR makes a lot of stuff easy when it comes to getting stuff not readily available on the package manager. There’s not often i can’t find something i want or need to not be on there.

I’ve used both base arch and cachyos. I’ve landed on cachyos for now because i didn’t want to fiddle with games and wine and just wanted them to work and they just do on cachyos. Laptops that i don’t expect to game on just get base arch with hyprland installed, just mostly so i can get my tinkering fix from modifying hyprland
