God, I hate Paul. He seems to be the source of most of the shitty things in Christianity.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are there no large demonstrations in the USA against Donald Trump's policies?
4·11 months agoI think initially people felt broken by the election. The fact that so many of our people voted for him seemed crazy and crushing.
For me and people I know that fog is starting to lift and neighbors are getting organized, but it’s still in small pockets. There is no consensus leadership but there are actually lots of protests going on, like at the Tesla dealership. Interestingly, I learned that was happening from my dental hygienist while she was cleaning my teeth, not from any media.
Isn’t Proton a little… fascist?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a movie that you were probably "too young" to see, when you first watched it, but you're glad you did?
2·1 year agoI saw Midnight Cowboy when I was a little kid at the drive in theater with my parents. Didn’t really understand it and I was unsettling, but I lived the song and Dustin Hoffman’s “I’m walking here!”

6·1 year agoI’ve been in a lot of political discussions on Xiaohongshu. It seems people learn a little Marxism even in high school and are happy to share about it.
Not everything has been super fabulous about China, but nothing critical of Mao, and a big consensus that living in China is kinder to people who aren’t wealthy than the US

1·1 year agoJust watched Nothing Lasts Forever, from a FullMoviesOnYouTube link of Lemmy.
Incredible 1984 picture but in a 30s style. Never released. Includes Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray but they don’t take up all the oxygen of the picture. Lots of great old timers in there too.

3·1 year agoI recently finished the 3rd one. Wasn’t impressed to be honest. Once the mystery is revealed it was kind of a slog.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would it mean for the world if the US were to transform itself from the usual democracy-like plutocracy into an outright dictatorship? Would anything change at all?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the strangest insult that you have ever received/given?
21·1 year agoKid called me “a pocket” once. That might not sound so bad, but he said it with a real mean sneer.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Gen Z, how has your dating experience been?
6·1 year agoSounds like you’ve dated very few people…

Actually I think they had a kind of committee to decide what was “scripture” and what wasn’t.
