I want to set a start time and end time and have my Hue lights slowly and very gradually over that timeframe shift from like yellow–> red or even white/blue at the start of the day–> red at end and have it automatically carry that out.
Is this possible and what is the easiest way to automate and have this play out lile that?
Home assistant will do it, there’s a plugin to setup color lighting cycles.
Probably not the easiest way, but it’ll open up a whole world of automation for you.
My gear is Hue bulbs, Bridge, iOS for our purposes (I have a Mac to setup anything its useful for but it won’t be on all the time like any server stuff)
As others have said, home assistant and the like can achieve this. However, if you prefer not to use any other hardware than what you already have, the Hue app has the “Hue Labs” thingy, where they have sunrise and sunset automations that have the lights do what you describe. Might be worth looking at.
If you’re somehow tech-savy go iobroker. Its5like homeassistant but on steroids. There’s nothing you can’t do. Do your logic by moving blocks or pure Javascript. Things you could do?
-
your cars gets near the house => unlock door, open garage-door, turn on lights
-
you leave home? Let your sonos-speaker tell you which doors/windows are still open or if you left the stove on. Let it Ask you if it should enable the alarm and then switch on the ip-cams and set the system to armed and lock the doors.
-
have a tablet display the weather-forecast, the climates around the house, the fuel-prices near you and what’s on your shopping-list.
-
have multiple light-scenes (or air-condition or fans or…) on a key at each rooms entrance. Or voice-controled. But not between 2200h and 0600h. Except Sundays. Unless it’s bright outside. Or you’re on holiday. Or YOU are not home but a burglar.
This is part of my setup. Endless possibilities 😌

The hue app has something like that under Automation.
If you have Home Assistant, there’s a tool that automatically changes brightness and colour temperature. You’ll need a Home Assistant server to use it, though.
