Potentially unpopular opinion here but - This is not 2012. Being an academy player for a club recognised widely as the brightest project in all of Europe, a team in need of a striker, and with a fair track record of nurturing young players about to break into the first team and then leaving for Man United of all clubs, a Man United currently in shambles and being led by a manager with an iffy history in the PL is just something I cannot reason with. The boy’s foolish. If he’s doing it for the money, fair play I guess.

I was thinking the same thing (and I still do, largely). But someone pointed out that he’s only been with us for a couple of years, and he might be a long-standing Man United fan (apparently a lot of Danes are?). Lots of ‘maybes’ there I know, but if that scenario is true then I could see the sentimental draw of him moving to them.

It’s still a really stupid decision IMO given the state of that club, but emotion isn’t always rational.

Also, as for the fact that we are in need of strikers, maybe he’s looked at Eddie who is about to get shipped off, and also how we’ve unloaded Biereth without him even breaking into the first team, and thought “yeah, I have no future here, regardless of what they say”.

I don’t disagree, but if that’s what he’s thinking then he’s not good enough and would not have got in the first 11.
