Hi thanks for your reply. I have laptop with external drive that i use as server at home. Ideally as easy part1 i would only upload pictures home, and would access them home only. This is not a public intelltual property, it’s our photos so no public IP needed.

My and familys phones are getting full of pics and videos, so instead of using Google Photos can we upload it our own server at home easily and wirelessly. If need be we can watch them on tv . That’s it.

I have done like 10% manual +90% automation this way. Installed zorin os on old laptop, connected 2tb external HDD, paid and started using emby, and then installed qbittorrent remote on mobile, installwd samba on zorin. Set zorin to not shut off and hen I close lid off. Once this is all done, started adding torrent via qbittorrent remote, then using solid explorer move files to external HDD and th n stream it in tv via emby app

Sygic broke trust like that with me . The software is/was excellent and very reasonable, so I bought licences for parts of world and suddenly they made it subscription based app, with ability to keep forever licence for only part of world you bought.
So even though I have fully paid software , i have to pay subscription for the feature of Android Auto and world maps.
It was the list betrayal of trust i have seen. I never used sygic after that at all.

The person you are replying to is 1000% right. Not so long ago your wanted to play flash files i.e. entirety of YouTube on Linux , you had do this and that and what not… I stopped using Linux even the noob friendliest ones after that one. The ones that are used in “running” internet are specifically made for that purpose only and they are not general purpose ones. So they are more robust than your “working out of the box” Linux versions.
Linux is hard and ABSOLUTE SHIT for a n person who wants things to just work., I mean can you search on Firefox a software like Irfan view or sony Vegas and install it and be fine in 10 minutes max? Nope … You find a relative similar software then you install it via package manager, and you think you are fine but as you run it it throws some error, do you go search for it . Turns out you need xyz dependency for it , then you search how to install dependency , all the forums tells you via terminal it’s just one command. So you try to do that but you forget/a or-s somewhere and …
Linux doesn’t work for general purpose easily. It’s good one for specific purpose. That’s what my personal experience been…

Yes I do t like that either and sort of want it too for some channels so what I do is use YouTube revanced with login , I purge my history once three months , and start a random video for first time like may be a documentary or a really.old/new song and then it germinates very different things for me from there on. And I got no ads at all. :)
