COSMIC looks awesome in screenshots though.
My brother was assigned that in school and we had it in the RV on a camping trip, so I picked it up and read it one evening. Both the info on citrus growing, and the violence, are things I still remember. Fucked up.
Was it assigned reading? Where did you go to school? I’ve always wondered if that book made it into reading lists anywhere outside of Florida.
Oh no, it’s going to be monetized to hell, isn’t it?
I think your tech suggestion is neat. I think your hope of a thriving Cleveland community on Lemmy is a bit too ambitious at the moment. I’m slightly active in the Minnesota and Twin Cities communities on here, but… they’re pretty quiet communities. The problem you run into is that most users on social media sites like this don’t post. Or they only comment. You need enough people to post so it’s not just one or two people feeling like they’re yelling into a void. The Twin Cities may be slightly smaller than Cleveland, but we’re actually interesting, lol.
Funny enough, I stopped mixing up my left and right after I broke my arm roller blading (on another occasion I broke my arm while biking). I didn’t have a way to mentally keep track until the doctor set the arm slightly off with the bone bowing out a bit - it feels slightly different now, but visually you can’t tell.
Hexbear has some awesome emojis, lol. I haven’t seen the flag burning one yet.
Have there been any video games that have done this for an idle animation?
They’re fairly common in Central Florida. Many large retention ponds have them and they just get relocated once they reach a certain size. It was still fun to be standing on a friend’s apartment balcony and spot an alligator laying next to the retention pond.
Squirrels are extremely common in (most of?) the US, even in cities. There’s an albino one that lives in my neighborhood, that one was interesting enough to stop and take a picture of.
What about crocodiles? Alligators are in most reasonably large retention ponds in Florida. Most places just relocate them once they reach a certain size. They’re pretty common. Knew a guy in high school who had a side hustle of removing them from people’s swimming pools. They’re pretty weird if you’re not from a place used to them.
Back when I worked at Disney, a subset of the Asian guests would get excited and take pictures of squirrels. Are there parts of Asia that don’t have many squirrels?
If you go the NASCAR route, it’d make it way easier to find out who bought your politicians. And which pharma company bought lunch for your doctor last week.
Oh, sorry, your cost of plot rent is now $1500 per month.
Want to put gas in your car? Ads. That talk and there’s no way to silence them.
Oh, no, wait, that one is real. Are they everywhere yet? I haven’t driven a car in several years. But I definitely remember that was real dystopian shit, similar to how I felt when I started getting ads in Windows.
I’m glad shaving hobbyists exist, y’all were a great help when I wanted to replace my Ross clearance safety razor, but I still don’t understand it as a hobby, lol.
I wonder if it’s because there’s no lower limit on what’s considered “beer”, so some companies will choose to regulate it as a beer rather than as a soft drink? I know I’m carded whenever I buy NA beer at major retailers - but Whole Foods at least has it with the soft drinks (which may mean it’s 3.2 beer by MN legal standards in some cases)…? I have no idea but DeMorgan’s law says the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it’s to post the wrong answer.
Probably 1998, Apple donated a bunch of iMacs to my elementary school and that was the first time I had free access to the Internet before and after school. I remember learning about search engines in class (pre-Google - Altavista, Dogpile, and AskJeeves were the big ones), and I remember learning html and making a website as a group project in 5th grade. I also remember the stuff I shouldn’t have been looking at, mainly FunnyJunk, lol. I got dial up at home in 1999 or so, and got into role playing forums and Gaia Online.
The problem is that she’s now a government official, that’s a huge problem.
I wasn’t able to find one. Which, if anyone saw my shitpost, is the real reason I installed it on my crapbook. I found out that the installer is pretty great, it just worked out of the box (at least on that computer, my gaming machine has an Nvidia graphics card…), and that GMOME isn’t really for me.
