Double checked and all of the drives are basic. I’m very confused as to what is different between the disks that readable and the ones that aren’t.
I’ve even tried multiple distros. Same scenario.

It was a good theory, but no luck. I’m perplexed on this one.
With the recent Microsoft garbage, I’m giving Linux another try. I’ve been running a laptop for a while, no issues. My main rig, however can’t read all of my um…?hard drives
A live USB of Mint 21 reads 2 of 5 drives fine. The rest are recognized from GParted, but can’t access them. It looks like NTFS-3G is installed.
I’ve duck duck go’d (which apparently is just Bing) for a solution, but haven’t succeeded. Long term, I can probably pick up another drive, copy, and reformat everything to something Linux friendly. For now, I just want access.
I’m lazy and burned out. I don’t want to use the terminal- which I did try. I just want to make a few clicks and have access to all of my files.
If it matters, the drives (roughly) show up as: 500 gb, 4 TB NTFS (readable) 3, 12, 16 TB unknown (not readable)
Windows says they’re all NTFS.
Is there an easy way to easily mount my drives?
My wife found a giant sectional couch that’s in “great condition” at an estate sale. She couldn’t believe no one bought it for $900. She bid $500 on the last day of the sale and was shocked she won.
I sincerely doubt anyone else even bid on the thing. People with living rooms that large don’t buy used couches. We have a relatively large living room and it still sticks out funny.
My wife is so excited. I don’t have the heart to tell her that I hate it. So now I’m out $500, stuck with a behemoth of a couch with worn out cushions, and I have to give away the perfectly nice couch we already have.
So… that’s interesting.
Everyone laughs like this is obvious, but I really struggle to do this. I’m not sure if it’s an ADHD thing, but I just can’t make myself go to bed at night. Extremely tired? Nah, I’d better wait until I hit a second wind. There’s unimportant stuff I’d rather do.
You could try moving to another city in another state. The difference in pay (and support) for teachers is crazy.
As much as I don’t like cops, JFC do they get nice pay and benefits in my state- like from the start. I doubt my city is very dangerous, and the prerequisites are almost nothing. Also, it would be nice to have more decent cops.
Otherwise, I work in software as a manager. Not the easiest gig, but not the hardes, and you can probably get your foot in the door at a lower level if you can work spreadsheets, have patience, and mildly thick skin. Pretty good pay.
Also, ironically school admin positions pay well.
It sounds like you have a degree, so there’s lots of options. Otherwise, as mentioned, the trades are always calling if you can stomach early hours.
Adjacent topic… Do you use a credit union? Because fuuuuuuck banks.
You would think journalism would be subject to libel laws, but after seeing Fox and company blast lies for decades, I don’t have that confidence.
Yes, Fox finally got hit with one major lawsuit for one massive lie, but given all the lies they’ve run, it shows how far past the line you need to go.
Whoosh. Right over my slow head
Waiting tables at a casual+ restaurant? Yes. The ratio is mostly girls- in their 20s. The turnover is high, so there’s always new people coming in. You’re around each other constantly so it’s not awkward to strike up a conversation. Plus the parties were pretty fun.
I don’t think you’d have the same luck at McDonald’s, or in management, but serving at decent places I always had good luck.
When I was fresh in my career:
After a number of years with my first company (a household name), I quit and got an 80% raise. Based on how quickly my new company accepted my salary request, I’m pretty sure I could have asked for more.
Get a better paying job once you’ve got some experience. Raises won’t keep up with your value.
Don’t work yourself to the bone. There really are plenty of jobs that only require 40hrs/wk and pay the same or better.
Work somewhere with a good culture.
