Are there any foss RCS apps or is it still exclusive to Google’s messages app? I feel like it would be 2 steps forward 1 step back for me to quit Google photos for immich and then exchange aosp messaging for Google messages.

My approach in fusion is to start with the most complex profile shape and create a sketch on that dimension and then just keep removing or adding features using sketches on the other axes.

For example for your radio holder (the orange piece in your screenshot) I would do a top down sketch with 2 circles connected with 2 lines (making a pill shape), times 2 inset from that (to give you an elongated ring), then add a couple lines to get the C shape. Extrude that and then do a separate extrude of the entire outline (without cuts) and set the extrude offset to the height of the model so that the new body ends up at the bottom of the previous extrusion making a bottom to the part - and with mode set to join on the extrude, if they’re touching it automatically merges them (saves having to do an extrude + join and just does it in a single extrude).

For the holes I would make another sketch coming from the front and then use the polygon tool to make a hexagon, followed by the pattern tool on the hexagon to make the hole pattern (a neat trick for hexagon patterns in fusion is that you can select 2 adjacent sides of the hexagon as pattern axes even though they’re not 90 degrees, the pattern tool will nicely pattern the hexagons hexagonally instead of just making a grid of hexagons). Then selecting all the hexagons generated by the pattern and doing an extrude from that sketch in cut mode to cut the holes. (One downside here is that adjusting the pattern count doesn’t automatically adjust the selected hexagons, you have to adjust the extrude-cut to select any new hexagons if you edited the pattern to create more)

I hope that gives some idea on how to build up shapes - I haven’t really used any tutorials but just kind of wing it by trying to make my first sketch of a part from an angle where that sketch can take care of as much complexity as possible so the finishing touches can be simpler. (Ie, if you made that orange part from the side, the initial sketch would be a square and you would have to do a lot more operations to cut off material)

Has anybody made a matrix app that looks like a discord clone? That sounds easier since the federated rich text chat is already made, the current clients don’t really appeal to the discord crowd.

Yeah I noticed that one but it says .mp4, webms are .webm. At any rate I updated to 109 and it still makes me open in browser to play webms.

Not sure if it’s just me, but now upvotes are blue and down votes orange in both the button color and the vote count color after voting. Seems backwards? I’m used to orange being upvotes and blue being down.

I’m gonna rcm my switch now and copy my animal crossing island to my PC to be emulated. Shoulda done that a long time ago to have a backup that I actually own instead of having to pay Nintendo to keep my save data backed up. I see no reason to play any more Nintendo games on my switch, much less purchase any more when I have my steam deck.

I’m pretty sure I was able to use the Google account phone backup (I think it’s called Google one) to restore apps, home screen, and other things since I’m not committed to degoogling yet. I guess flashing gapps brings the cloud backup section into the android settings and that’s been super useful. It reinstalls apps from play store and supposedly includes app data, sms/MMS, and device settings, though i remember always having to re log into a bunch of apps still.

I think there’s also a local transfer wizard when doing the first time setup after flashing but I can’t remember what the compatibility is for that or whether you need gapps to get that option.

I just go with lineage on every phone. It’s easier to already be on lineage when security updates stop instead of reaching that point and then having to reset my phone and jump ship to stay updated.

My old Pixel 2 had been out of official security updates for a long time and Google only guaranteed security updates to pixel 5 until last year. I’ll probably still be on pixel 5 for a few more years since every new one past that seems to be even bigger.

Prowlarr has torrentlite as one of the domain options under the rarbg indexer. I guess they use a common profile for all the rarbg clones since they use similar html structure. You just add rarbg and then switch the base URL to torrentlite in the options for it.

I’m mostly in the same boat. So far anything I didn’t like could be easily turned off. I unpinned the Plex TV and movies so it never shows up. I don’t mind discover because it means it returns results for things I don’t have, letting me watchlist it so overseerr can request it without me needing to leave Plex.

I have a jellyfin container running in the same docker compose yml with the exact same media folders mounted to it with quicksync passed through to it in addition to Plex, reverse proxy already set up so switching is as easy as opening a different URL or app since it’s already up and running.

For me it’s between scaled sort and being able to view webms without opening in external browser (though if you set scaled sort on the web it’ll get selected in app as long as you don’t change it)

Yeah I was a little worried about thermal conductivity but luckily haven’t had any issues with flow - granted I also print hot most of the time by the advice of my coworkers at a 3D printing startup that prints a lot of functional parts in their in house prototyping mini farm.

Isn’t Miracast for sending video data? The thing I like about Chromecast is that the phone or remote app just tells the Chromecast where to load the media directly from, and then only sends playback control commands. That makes it a lot lighter resource wise because you don’t need to proxy the stream through a device like a phone that wants to go to sleep to save battery.

Those stacked focus shots and the 3D model is super neat! I’m looking forward to part 2. I’ve always just gotten E3D hardened steel and not put much thought into it (didn’t want to have to worry about printing glow in the dark, and not willing to think much about nozzle wear like some of my friends who love to buy sub dollar multi packs of no name brass and swap them frequently).

This is awesome. I pretty much agree with all the ideal specs aside from preferring rear fingerprint sensors. I used to have the Pixel 2 (5" display) and it was pretty much my ideal phone, sadly it just kept getting buggier and buggier as apps got updated and it wasn’t able to run the latest lineage as smoothly. Really disappointing as I had also just gotten accustomed to opening it up to replace the battery and do other repairs myself so maintaining it indefinitely wouldn’t have cost me much as long as parts continued to be available.

I think it’s the same bug but I’m constantly annoyed that all webms I encounter give that “image was actually a webpage” message, so it seems viewing webms are just entirely broken.
