I’m honestly wondering if I can start a business “de-smarting” things. I had this idea a couple years ago when I was hardware disabling the microphone in my Comcast remote. I think the average consumer is realizing how much they are being tracked and do not like it. Enough that they would pay for solutions. The VPN market is massive.

Yes. At one point I “designed” chlorination buildings/ rooms. At least where I live, probably due to the historical happenings with the water, everything is very heavily monitored and systems are redundant. Everyone in the city got this big notice about a failure in the water system. I actually read through it and it was because one station didn’t get one of their scheduled samples. My parents have well water which I grew up on, and think it tastes easy better. But they need a water softener and filters. There’s also a guaranteed amount of heavy metals, even if it’s in a “safe” range.

Unless you need a full pathogen panel, you can just buy the tests for pretty much anything at hardware stores. There are kits that include several.

In the last year I’ve had both my cat and house broken into(I was gone to stop that one) and never reported either. They would take a day to show up, write down some bullshit notes, then never do anything. Someone just went through my neighbors garage and she did call the cops. They didn’t even take a report because she left the garage door pen therefore it wasn’t breaking and entering, not even trespassing since she doesn’t have a no trespassing sign.

If you can get into machining, which is harder to just get in than stay in, a lot of companies I’ve seen even offer tuition reimbursement for entry machinists to get whatever degree(they want you to get an engineering degree).

I used to pick up spam calls and go along for as long as I could. For at least 5 years now my number has been blacklisted in India, I’ve never gotten a single Indian spam call since. I used to get a car warranty call every few months but I’m pretty sure they black listed me as well. I got pretty deep into the hierarchy getting names, payment details, anything. But the car they called me about doesn’t exist.
