What I do now, use old.reddit on my computer and keep to the subs I can’t get on Lemmy.

There may be some mental tasks that other animals can probably do better than humans. However, if you’re talking about complex topics like mathematics, I would bet on modern humans being better given that being good at math is far more likely to be an evolutionary advantage to humans over other animals.

Part of the issue with off-shoring was that a lot of the work was contracted to different companies. Nowadays, large companies own the satellite offices so they have better control over the work.

I don’t think it is just failing companies that are doing this.

COVID fundamentally broke the relationship of cost of living to the salary of certain jobs. You don’t need to pay salaries for people to live in Silicon Valley or Seattle if everyone in the department is full remote. So, if you are going to keep the job as full remote, you can base the salary on a more average cost of living and cut wages. You can use AI as an excuse for senior staff layoffs for investors, then quietly hire workers in more parts of the world with lower salaries.

Yeah, but the federation as a whole will defederate from instances outside of a minimal acceptable set of politics.

Just because it wasn’t accredited as a private school doesn’t mean that isn’t what it functionally was.

I’m also not surprised that this program was functionally better than public school since there public education system in the South became garbage when segregation became illegal.

There’s enough data from COVID that shows pulling students out of school creates students with less social ability than those physically in school.

Yeah, but those tools should be built into Lemmy and they aren’t. Even something as basic as mod seniority based on something other than how long someone has been a mod should have been corrected.

Good mods and admins are able to do good work despite the tools provided, not with the tools provided.

I’m not surprised. Lemmy has been sold as a Reddit where people can be in more control than they could be on Reddit. It turns out you only get that control if you’re an admin.

But the decision to defederate or allow a mod to use AI is at the admin level, not the user level.
