Overall agree, but I would like to add that radical parties and violent action IMO will not solve any problem alone, there is also please for peaceful protests, for writing manifestos, for writing license agreements and of course for writing open source code.

I don’t want to discourage you, so go for it, it may be fun and you may learn some things or at least think on difficult topics like:
How do you measure human suffering?
How do you deal with extremists that truly believe their cause?
And maybe most interesting what if the radicals are not wrong? (Talking about topics like climate change or overthrowing oppressive regimes)
If this can give you hope I cope by knowing that open source at least sometimes levels the field for the disadvantaged. Like the situation with Deepseek and openAI
https://www.positive.news/ is what you are looking for.
And for distraction I use: https://youtube.com/@dailydoseofinternet
But in the end of the day it doesn’t really help, the only other thing that can help you is joining a group that fights for what you think it is important, that way at least you know you are doing something to help. Be the smart person who leads to de-escalation!
It seems to me they are both rigidly hierarchical structures, with very low social mobility mostly based on birth. But aside from that, there is not much more in common I think.

For something even less direct, some projects/sites need translating as well as writing subtitles for movie or series torrents.

Jack@slrpnk.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What RSS feed are you subscribed to/can recommend?11·2 months agoI mostly use it for news, but a lot of sites have RSS even some that do not advertise it.
Whenever I like a site I usually use rss validator and check if their blog/news page have RSS.
Additionally I check endpoints like /rss and /feed.
Not the most concrete answer, but what you subscribe to is highly personal.
P.S. I also use something like https://ktnrs.com/ for websites providing only email newsletter.

Am I the only one noticably receiving more adds on duck duck go last few days/week?
I feel like the adds and the AI response thing make it much worse.
Have to scroll a whole screen untill I see a organic result.
It sounds fishy to me tbh, I may be wrong but I also will not be surprised if something like the deal with honey comes out in a few years.

Hahaha you are getting paranoid,
And about antifa, I think antifa more like the friends we made along the way.
Antifa will live as long as people are fighting against fascism. It is more of an idea then an organization, but it becomes more organized when fascism raises.
One of the main reasons I like Lemmy is that I can ask these kind of questions without fear. And you can too(although you ISP is another matter entirely).
Wishful thinking IMO as a citizen of another failed state, you will see in time how little the government will do to protect public interests and how blatant the corruption will become.
Every month or so I find some news and think “this cannot be so obvious and go unpunished, surely this time…” and nothing happenes and next month it happens again…

Not very active, but looking to be more active in the community, as well as installing local NAS for some more professional pirating of my own.
I am quite often in the app so dealing with reports shouldn’t be a problem.
Anarchist, still researching and figuring out my exact philosophy.
Additionally I am from Europe so maybe that will help with coverage from timezones pov.

I would love to live in a world where you can afford to just not deal with extremists.
