Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Americans that are in the armed forces, What is the current feeling inside it?
7·8 months agoTo clarify the army has 3 types active, national guard and reserve
The reserve doesn’t have combat mos and are primarily support. Active duty soldiers live on bases when not deployed, and train throughout the week like a regular job. The national guard is still part of the army, they train for the same jobs at the same place and wear the exact same uniform. All three departments wear a name tape that says U.S. army.
They just so happen to be in their respective states service, and can be acted on by the governor as well. National guard also does disaster relief when state side. All three departments can be deployed to a conflict internationally.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is there a place to request AMAs? I wouldn't mind hearing from a cryptkeeper...English
15·10 months agoActually getting a reliable stream of AMAs going could be just what Lemmy needs to really grow, it was a primary engagement point for Reddit.
Does anyone know how that all started or how to replicate the approach built by them?

3·1 year agoAlso, yeah talk about a fucking tease in gaming, why did they recreate so much of RDR1 in RDR2? I really thought that naturally they were going to extend the second one with a “dlc” that was basically RDR1 remastered.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What life hack is so simple yet so effective, you're shocked more people don't know about it?
2·2 years agoI drink pretty much only on the weekends and that’s pretty seldom.
Is one glass of wine really that bad though? Like compared to a glass of grape juice? Because of the sugars and calories and is alcohol in this percentage range (approx 14%) enough to cause damage to your liver over time?
Again I’m talking about one glass

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What life hack is so simple yet so effective, you're shocked more people don't know about it?
15·2 years agoYeah, everyone’s neurochemistry is different and should be experimented with.
I didn’t know this for so long, that I needed a few easy wins to set the pace, that I feel like I could have been way more productive throughout my 20s haha
Kinda like a silent green lantern
Yeah, it is at the moment for the most part. My girlfriend is fluent in Spanish, and I have talked to her about general concepts that overlap.
We decided after I started getting deeper into the language that we should maybe not do that as much so I don’t pick up bad or flat out wrong habits.
I myself am of an Italian descent, however the relatives I have that speak it either live in Italy still and are estranged or sadly have passed away. There is an Italian grocery store near me, and I have heard them speaking it so I was hoping to strike a couple friendships up over time there.
Been using a multifaceted approach to cramming Italian in my little brain:
- Anki flashcards (this is my main thing)
- conversational pod casts
- movies, shows and music
- lastly, Duolingo
Any suggestions on what I could be using instead of Duolingo?
