I was confused when I read it as well, at least I know now that I wasn’t alone. I think the next step is just opening a text editor and starting with <html></html> Forward a couple ports, maybe use caddy to route the port internally but it isn’t needed. Although if you use NOIP with Caddy getting the https cert setup seems to be pretty easy.

Would have been nice if they went to Mastodon, but I wouldn’t call them idiots. I don’t use that media format, but if there isn’t a lot of users there, I cant see the service being that useful to the users who do go there. It’s like Lemmy struggles with niches. Not enough people, want to find something or ask someone about something, you’ll hit a wall and find yourself looking for results elsewhere. Someday hopefully, but that movement from Twitter would have been a great time for activity pub to shine if it hadn’t gotten skipped over
Yeah if it’s sending the data and not searching from the server itself it would make it easier to track you having higher security almost. Because it would make your identifiers more unique if everyone else wasn’t… That’s food for thought
(Not talking about a specific browser, just in general) Maybe I’m misunderstanding but when the VPN makes a request for the page information the request isn’t forwarding the browser information is it? So wouldn’t most of that be mitigated there?
As in the VPNs sever making the request should show when they scrape that information, not the end user. Maybe I’m not understanding that though.

If you are fined in one state they will ask your state to enforce the penalty and they are usually legally required to do so by the federal government.
The part of Mississippi saying it may have criminal punishments as well may have more leeway, as you won’t get extradited if it isn’t a felony in most states. But we don’t know what the criminal charges would be. At 10,000 per user signed up from their state though, I’d be weary.
Just be careful, I’m just saying it’s risky. I can see them ceasing your assets in another state because it follows the current laws. Otherwise if you found someone guilty in a state court you would just move to another state and be fine, which we know doesn’t work, or people like the my pillow guy would just move out of Minnesota where he was found guilty, to say Texas.
I don’t need to explain anything. If you want to host something with content that is illegal in another state and you choose to not put up any protections to block users from accessing the content in that state, you very well may be sued some day. If you block users from signing up from those states and/or block those IP addresses from accessing your site, you likely would have grounds for it to be dismissed before ever having to do anything. State lines do not protect you against lawsuits.
Not that I’m thinking about it I bet it’s because the clock is a local app when the OS installs, but if you sign into a Microsoft account they probably re-install the clock from a Microsoft Store version. Which would give it the ability to auto sync features pertaining to your calendar and shit. So items you put in your Microsoft Planner will integrate automatically. Meaning of you use a local account there is likely no update, but if you sign in all your tasks, calendar items and shit likely automatically populate into it.
Bet they tried to integrate it into copilot or something as well, so like in Android if you told Google assistant or Gemini to set an alarm it is able to add it directly to you calendar and such.
I had to have Windows not in a virtual machine for a work thing. Installed Windows 10 off a USB in a dual boot on a laptop that was already running Mint (last week). Install time was ~7-10 mins, no Microsoft account required or tricks to get around it. It pulled all the drivers for the Thinkpad when I connected to WiFi on the Desktop screen, and it updated and restarted in about 10 mins. Throw in that I configured my tool bar and themes and set my background to a flat color / changed the settings for performance over looks. Maybe 25 minutes total.
No candy crush or anything to uninstall because the install was created using the Media Creation Tool using the selection to install on another machine.
I use Linux on my machines standardly, and prefer it. My biggest issue was that I had to decide if I wanted to install Grub afterwords because Windows will overwrite your bootloader or just hit f12 everytime.
I remember seeing this update on some machines I set up for work and wondering the same. It occurs the first time the clock app is launched, and the “update” is really just pulling the time zone data and setting the clock to what is accurate (internet based world clock), seperate from the bios time it was going off of prior to that. It’s really just looks worse than it is.
The way I view it is that Bluesky is a new company that is growing fast, while a site like Pornhub has been around longer and I’m sure has a large legal team that monitors laws all the time. If Pornhub said it was better to cut their losses and see if waiting out and or not seeing a good legal standing to fight with these states, Bluesky likely didn’t have much of a chance.
If you run any instance that is federated and has users that could sign in from that state it makes complete sense to block their IP addresses. Why on earth would someone running a Mastodon instance take on risk unlless they were in another country where there was no risk of repercussions.
If you’re just hoping that small fish won’t get fried that’s possibly true. But admins likely won’t want to find out if they will just on principles.

So as someone who’s mid 30s and was proscribed contacts at 18 and had one blow back into my eye while on a motorcycle, then another crack (probably from my misuse) and irritate my eye real bad, and just give up on wearing anything. At what age would you say I should draw a hard line of making sure I get something so my eyes will adapt properly. I still passed the eye test at the DMV, but it’s gotta be close. Somehow I don’t think my distance has gotten worse from 18-35 because I can still read text on street signs and captions on TVs.
Just figured I’d ask because your talk about 42 vs 60 adapting to lenses, or if I could just keep ignoring it and adapt when I do get glasses eventually.
