I’ve never tried it or even thought of it, but this doesn’t sound half bad. I’d imagine it would be salty and savory similar to vegemite
Account abandoned due to dbzer0 members disparaging me for sharing my experiences and trying to provide interesting leftist OC

I make body scrubs in these.
Used coffee grounds, coconut oil, and some alcohol to keep it from molding
Lmao but fr I wish that scam had a different name, one that makes it a bit more apparent how the scam works. I get the idea of the hog being fattened and slaughtered, but that’s way too metaphorical imo
We mere mortals can never truly delete anything on Lemmy!
The BBC made an excellent documentary on pig butchering scams:

I knew someone who was a victim of one of these scams from 2019 - 2023
Edit: Sorry, you specifically said youtube. Cringe Link O’Chest moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW4wYV0V-5s
And I also commented twice. Ugh, what a train wreck.

Ur a poser
Every Democrat I know irl is a kind, considerate person with empathetic views.
So it’s amazing to me that the party seems to go out of its way to find the most horrific ghouls and status quo warriors to set forth in a federal election, especially really fucking important elections

That sounds amazing! Chocolate and peanut butter (especially melty peanut butter) are so good.
Pancakes, all the time, every time.
If I ever abandon all hope, I plan to eat nothing but pancakes until I perish.
With the cheapass syrup, too – none of this frilly shit. Just good old American artificially flavored corn syrup over pancakes from a box.
One benefit is that if you are a US citizen, and your spouse is not, you don’t have to wait as many years to apply for citizenship. It can also help your application, as long as you are able to provide sufficient evidence that the relationship is genuine and not just to hasten the application. (Still ungodly expensive and difficult to get citizenship though – the idea that you “just marry” someone is an utter myth.)
Navigating credit and finances is easier.
It can be easier to get access to be there for each other during a health crisis, and I know my parents have appreciated how much help their son-in-law has given them when they need moral support during medical appointments, etc. Sometimes he’s been there for them when I am unable.
My husband and I didn’t marry for these reasons, though. We had been in a monogamous co-habitative relationship for five years leading up to the proposal, and it was more for customary/cultural reasons. You’re right that the practical benefits are pretty marginal.
It kinda seems like it’s just a way to trap people in relationships, probably traditionally, the woman
It can be, yeah. I think this is an ongoing problem that was even worse in the past. I disagree that it is “just” why people marry, though. I was fortunate to have parents who are married, but it was always clear they were both equal partners in the relationship. Didn’t really subscribe to traditional gender roles and such. I’m really lucky.
It’s always awkward when someone will ask me, “Who’s the woman in the relationship?” Like, what kind of question is that? But yeah, there are a lot of people who unfortunately do have this idea of ownership. Terms like “trophy wife” seem so problematic to me, like wtf bro.
Gonna finish by adding there are many different ways a relationship can look, and marriage is just one of them. I think if it’s consensual and equitable, it can be a beautiful thing, but so can many other types of relationships. It made sense for my husband and I, but it probably doesn’t make sense to a whole lot of people, and that’s fine. I think no one should ever feel pressured to get married or not to get married.
I’m actually taking some time off work right now. This is a good reminder for me to catch up :P
I so strongly disagree, yet I completely understand at the same time.
Look at it this way: Forget the “horror” part after part one because it’s really tangential to what they were going for. No one would act like The Three Stooges in any of their wacky situations either, and that’s a big part of the humor. The filmmakers were big Three Stooges fans, which is why they went a different way for the sequels.
But even so, it’s not appealing to you, and that’s okay. I too like the first one and the remake, though for me not quite as well as the others.
I actually haven’t seen the latest installment.
I respect your opinion because there’s no such thing as objectively good/bad, but…
The Evil Dead movies, for example, were popular because of how they integrated Three Stooges-style slapstick humor with horror. If they had been straight horror, they would have been just some other B-movies.
On the more serious end of comedy/horror is Get Out, which is very clever in that its funny moments are also some of its most unsettling.
Hmm, looks like they’re slightly different games.
As first, I assumed they were the same, but now that I read the description again, it says it uses Mahjong tiles, but it looks like it’s not Mahjong.
If I find anything else, I’ll let you know.
There’s this: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.cwde.freeshisen/
Looks like it hasn’t been updated in a while, but I’d guess that doesn’t matter for a game like this
The shoe doesn’t fit, though. That’s not the meaning of the term.
A true Marxist doesn’t support authoritarian governments
Stalinism operated under the auspices of Marxism, as did Maoism. Like it or not, these are Marxists. The problem is they’re authoritarian Marxists, not fascists.
And fascists don’t call everyone they disagree with “liberal.” I myself reject liberalism, which upholds capitalism and other inequitable hierarchies. Shall we call liberals “fascist” as well, since they too engage in oppression and exploitation of marginalized groups? Certainly not, and nor should we call authoritarian leftists “fascists.”
Fascism is a strictly right-wing ideology. Far right, in fact, which is why we typically don’t call liberals by the term, even though it too is a less extreme right-wing ideology.
I’ve always struggled to understand why someone would pay the same price (or nearly as much) for a strictly-digital copy
Convenience. I’ve been in situations where it seemed easier at the time to just buy a movie on Amazon. For example, if I’m on vacation or a work trip and I really want to see something.
But that was before I learned about which sites were safe to use for streaming and had high quality content.
Also, I’ve learned that my library still has a large DVD collection, so I apprise myself of that.
Knitting is super fun. I used to do it every day until I started my masters. I keep thinking I should restart this hobby. As long as you don’t buy ridiculously premium yarns, it’s super cheap too. I used to find boxes of yarn at yard sales or thrift stores.
