I’m not starving and I don’t eat meat. I just pay more for my food even though it costs less to produce. We should be incentivising more sustainable choices, because unless we scale down animal ag we all actually will starve.
Just a silly feller

The entire industry is built on suffering. It’s bad for the animals, the workers, the climate, your health.
I get a lot of downvotes for being vegan (and I’m usually being a prick about it, so - fair) but surely even the meat eaters must recognise that animal ag needs to scale way down to be at all sustainable. At the very least we need to stop subsidising it so it’s cheaper than alternatives.
Yeah, so much US content gets geoblocked here. It’s super weird, just a random clip from a show on youtube? woops, looks like that content isn’t available in your country.
I’ve been registered for a while now. I really don’t see a good reason not to, they only take 'em if I’m dead and what good are they to me then? Better going to someone in need.
So many posts perfectly summarising why I’ve always preferred the reddit format over twitter. On one you follow topics, on the other you follow people. I prefer to hear a wide range of views on one topic rather than one persons views on different topics.
This is exactly what I felt while watching this. Does anyone really care about bezel width or weight or thickness when the differences have to be measured with callipers? And that stupid yellow tint when you’re not looking directly at your phone. I’d actually like worse viewing angles for my phone because it seems better privacy wise.
Battery life is kinda nice if you’re travelling or just not sure when you’ll next be able to charge, but in those cases the solution is always to just get a battery pack for emergencies. All of these criticisms seem so out of touch with how people actually use their phones.
And when those compromises mean you have your phone longer and buy a more ethical, sustainable product that pays workers… Easy choice.
One of my favourite anecdotes is that the agency stole the music in that ad. After a lot of effort the guy that made it finally got them to pay royalties.
As a man… that sounds about right lol. I was watching a show and then realised if I wanted the later seasons I’d have to subscribe to a different service and I took that personally and got annoyed and now I just pirate stuff. No one tells this manly feller what to do.
Ahh, that was just me misunderstanding what patron meant, my bad.
I meant Blender, they seem to be majority funded by regular people.
I may be wrong but I thought they were majority user funded.
edit: looking at their funding reports it seems that way, but I may be misinterpreting it.
probs better than the $2 DAC that came with the PC. I’m still not convinced DACs have any noticeable difference to sound quality, though.
I’m not sure if this qualifies exactly but the FOSS 3D package Blender has been surviving for quite some time. They’re in Amsterdam, not silicon valley, but they seem to do really well off primarily donations and funding from some big companies.
This might sound like a crazy answer from a crazy person but hear me out. If they are good people and you’re somewhat familiar with them, just call them kooks, say that shit’s all made up and dismiss it. just don’t be aggressive about it, people can still be on good terms without agreeing on everything. Just be like “nah man, no way that happened these shows are just people who want attention, if it was real there’d be better evidence and it’d be all over the news.”
I honestly think this is the best way to go, you’re engaging them honestly, attacking the show, not them. And so long as you don’t get hung up on their response or ‘winning the argument’ I think you can all remain on good terms. How you go about this obviously depends on how friendly you are with them but if they’re good people they’ll still be your friend even if you’re too dumb to see the truth about aliens.
I dislike that you used quotes to misrepresent what they said by making them sound like a cartoon caveman. Poor form.
Also I remember why I and, presumably, a lot of others moved to chrome in the first place. Firefox started getting really bloated and adding a bunch of default features that people either didn’t want or already used an extension for, the main selling point of firefox back then was extensions and customising your own browsing experience. Adding a first party ad blocker just seems like a waste of time when third party ones likely do a better job.
I get your point, though, I can definitely see why a default one might be a nice marketing note, but no need to be rude about someone disagreeing with your speculation.
that’s fair, I hadn’t really thought it through.
I agree with this so much. Political parties should just be given one tv ad and one pamphlet. Only allowed to talk about their own policies and nothing else. Exclusively government funded. Any extra donations and you’re no longer representing the people’s interests so you’re murdered or something idk.
I thought individualism and collectivism were more like cultural traits than a specific thing you could call a scam.
I don’t quite understand. Doesn’t the bank have to pay someone for the house? So the money has to exist before they can lend it to you.
There’s one guy in my little group of friends who is an unapologetic hugger, even though the rest of us don’t really hug he’ll always hug everyone goodbye. I’d say it’s possible some guys don’t enjoy it, but I actually really appreciate it about him, it’s nice getting a hug and sometimes I really need one.
For anyone who really doesn’t like it they can always offer their hand first, but on behalf of all the guys who need a little affection from their buds sometimes I wanna say thanks for being there for the friends who need it. Even if they never say so I’m sure some of them appreciate it.
