Only for security updates.
Only for security updates.
I couldn’t care less about the major versions, but announcing they’ll stop with the security fixes three years after the release date for a device that I can’t update reliably any other way was a deal breaker for me.
That and the fact that they, too, are just too damn huge. Yes, even the 5 and 10. No, their aspect ratio doesn’t fix that. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
It surely is going to help “marketing” with “numbers”.
Oh we have a dedicated Linux service contract with a dedicated Linux support company that has technicians just to deal with Linux issues and provide the Linux setup. We’ve had time to adapt. I guess some bloke still decided that there just had to be a malware scanner and now we all have to eat shit. This is much less a lesson for it departments and much more a lesson that the people who manage stuff just have other goals than the people working with the tools that are managed, so you end up with somebody who wants to cover their ass in case something goes wrong in the future and makes it a terrible experience for everybody in the process but can sell it as a necessity to the people below and as action to the people above.
So, this just popped up on my feed and I’m that much into bikes beyond owning an older one to get me from a to b in my small town or to the next city, so bear with me if the question is stupid, but I always thought carbon frames were used because they are so warp resistant, thus losing less of the energy that you put into the system to bending the frame. How much sense does it make to have a frame that is expensive due to this property and combine it with a suspension that is supposed to absorb energy put into the system into warping springs to have a smoother ride? Like, it seems those are pretty much drawing the properties of this bike into opposing directions, no?
Same. The Linux setup there is a fucking mess though… AD authentication freezes login for a minute or so if you switch networks at the wrong moment, puppet keeps messing with the system and recently they installed clamav as a live malware scanner on all machines, making them eat batteries for breakfast and slowing down even menial tasks. If you have admin rights, they refuse to add your user to sudoers but instead create a new admin user (another indicator that they’re just really coming from windows) which everybody just uses to add their original user to sudoers, which was a nice workaround but which they now noticed and want to prohibit via puppet or user rights or something. It’s just such a mess. I mean, still leagues ahead of using windows, but a corporate environment really is a machine that transforms time and money into a terrible experience for everybody.
My oldest one is about to turn 14. Man, 15 years ago I was in my mid 20s, at the University. We were out partying on Tuesdays, I learned so much new stuff, I met young and enthusiastic people every day, I was just married… You bet my life was different 15 years ago.

Didn’t know that one, will check it out! Thank you!
Ha, good one… Watched that already though. Also doesn’t really match this universal optimism. Over the garden wall was great but is to hilda what American McGee’s Alice is to Disney’s Alice, kind of. That world is morbid. Thanks for the recommendation though!
Obvious choice: Primer
There’s also a decent tng episode that has this exact premise.
It seems this is an entire genre though, so Wikipedia does have a list of time loop movies. Maybe check if any of those short descriptions seem to fit your tastes?
Hmmmm… Adventurous third person action game with a sense of mystery and strong scripting? Is that it?
Horizon: zero dawn or forbidden west? That’s more on the open world side of things though.
What about God of war or maybe shadow of the colossus?
A little shorter and not so much on the adventure side but very mysterious and very intense: hellblade - senua’s sacrifice. That’s quite dark though, missing some of those feelgood indy vibes.
Oooh, this is great!
I love Hilda. The Netflix series. It has this feeling of adventure, an ubiquitous optimism and (and this is where it really gets difficult) combines this with a mixture of fast and slow pacing and (almost) traditional 2d animation. I haven’t found anything similar. Friends recommended gravity falls and adventure time, but I didn’t really like the faster pacing and American slapstick humour. The only thing that really ever came close was the ghibli adaptation of Ronja, which had this off-putting uncanny 3d cell shaded look of the characters but which I still enjoyed due to the writing (but which has disappeared from streaming services in Europe since).
Hilda is kind of like star trek tng, with episodes being not too connected and the protagonists mastering their challenges without antagonising their adversaries or resorting to violence as the solution (the final movie being the exception here, which was really weird imho).
And ideas?
“my significant other did not address me as Mr. Bananapoopblender, something is seriously wrong!”
That’s free? Then why did I pay 2,50 for it?
But yes, it’s awesome. Pure dopamine.
FP4 is pretty fucking far from small.
It’s not about having a sales tax applied to some or all goods or about how much that’d be. It’s about not listing the final price including the tax right until you’re supposed to pay for it. How dumb is that?
Just realised that this isn’t just about music. Those were all musicians or bands, but Germany of course has people from all trades.
To universally loved artists I’d count
Santiano is not universally loved. They’re too close to Schlager for that. And the issue with Rammstein isn’t really alleged nazism (which only came up briefly when they used Leni Riefenstahl’s footage) but rather their singer’s alleged backstage raping.
So far, I haven’t met people who hated Herbert Grönemeyer, Marius-Müller Westernhagen, Jan Delay, Nina Hagen, die Ärzte, die fantastischen Vier or Reinhard Mey. A little more recent music that I have rarely seen associated negatively would be by Kraftklub, Peter Fox or Deichkind. None of this is particularly progressive, but it’s decent stuff that is so universally liked that e.g. weddings often rely on them to get people to dance.
The feddit frontend has been offline for months, but the backend works just fine, so if you use another ui (such as an app) that instance can still be used. It’s a mess.
