Are we playing the same game? Full of snotty squeakers and Xbone chucklefucks? Hell, the “cheat” coding community is largely fueled by the desire to avoid other players in order to make it “kinda fun” at all. 🤪

Additionally, it would need to be a holdout/failsafe option, to help with said balance issues. Something along the lines of that CON Save increasing in DC with each successive attempt to cast without slots. A failed save results in a level of Fatigue, lowered Max HP, etc., until they either stop attempting to cast or die from the effects and become a wraith in eternal service to the Patron.

Ironically enough, I generally can barely stand D&D these days, and much prefer systems like Blades In The Dark, Powered By The Apocalypse, Ironsworn/Starforged, etc., so please understand that while my criticism comes from a place of cited reference, in no way do I support the tactical “storytelling” that WotC sells to the unwitting and the brand-loyal. In fact, it seems that we’re of very similar mind, after all. 🤗❤️

edit: I’d like to point out that I had the “privilege” of playing in a game that Gygax ran at GenCon back in the day, and Colville’s “style” is cut from similar cloth. Some might enjoy it, but I genuinely wish the flyleaves of rulebooks still assured readers that the book’s contents were merely guidelines to assist imagination among their group.

According to Matt Colville, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Your monsters should be doing average damage equal to 6, + 3 times their CR”. Therefore, your < CR 13 monsters were so nerfed that their actual CR was less than half (+/-) the printed number. All due respect, but if you’re training your players to interact with the game system in this manner, you’re not only making more work for yourself, but you’re setting them up for a rude fucking awakening at nearly any other table than yours. 🤷🏼‍♂️

They’re not bad machines, per se, but the company’s been pushing the shitty practices envelope in an apparent rush to compete with a shrinking barrier to entry and attempting to create a sub-market for “elite” hobbyist machines (in size only) without increasing the quality of parts but certainly upcharging on them… I currently have 8 Elegoo printers (2 Mini 4Ks, 4 Saturn 8Ks, and 2 Jupiters) as both Phrozen and Anycubic are notably worse in a number of ways. To wit, replacing the Jupiter screens is $250 apiece, whereas the Saturn screens run less than $50 and are not ⅕ the size or value. It’s genuinely disappointing, and I have less than zero confidence that this FDM machine won’t shit the bed right out of the gates.

All this aside, I recommend you look at established brands in the FDM space that are less likely to be making a cash grab outside their comfort zone.
