Don’t threaten me with a good time
I’m just this guy, you know. Except on Lemmy.
Don’t threaten me with a good time
Having most of the year off for festivals and holy days
They aren’t as efficient at generating rent due to their maintenance and upkeep costs, so real estate holdings firms are hell bent on liquidating them, subdividing them, and redeveloping the land piecemeal in ways that better optimize for fine access control and not having to take care of any “dead” non-money-making spaces such as the concourses between the stores. Instead: just parking lots between store fronts.
This is what happened near me. The malls got turned inside out, so it’s just big boxes around a giant parking lot.
If they worked for democratic cooperatives and not dictatorial corporations they would have power to raise their pay and work less.
I can’t envision a federated service dying. Even if it’s me pedaling a bike to run a raspberry pi hosting an instance that’s just me posting it’ll exist.
You can’t automate away all the unpleasant and technical bits.
But it’s our job to try
Thank you for getting it
And we’ll stay that way as long as we think people should have jobs
As someone who is legitimately anti-work I have a real problem with people who just want to change things. We’re not getting FALGSC with “work reform” because then there’s no reason to fully automate it.
Anti-work is everyone living like a king and eating Doritos and nobody doing hard work.
Just you wait. You’ll see “This bike lane brought to you by Chevrolet” in under a decade.
They will get the market share of us few weirdos who haven’t just accepted this shit. They will lose out on advertising revenue, have to charge more for gas, and will go out of business.
They’ll start putting ads in the bike lanes
Your money is the squeak of a mouse against the thunderclap of advertising money.
If they lose a couple weirdos like us but get to sell eyeballs, they’ll do it.
Call it “The Setesh Guards”
Man, an animated series a la Clone Wars about the origins of the Jaffa with Christopher Judge could be epic.
I just checked and in my home state of PA, convicted felons only lose their right to vote when they’re in prison. If they’re on parole or probation they’re allowed to vote. People convicted of a misdemeanor can vote from jail.
So I guess it varies a lot more than I thought.
It’s only felons who can’t vote. Grabbing some food for your kids would likely be a misdemeanor, which means you could still vote.
What does the left tell you? For women, they have the “successful single girlboss” trope to aspire to, or even the “hardworking single mom” thing. As a man who is supposed to catch on to the liberal side of the culture war, what is my role in society?
I was watching a video about the phenomenon of men getting more conservative - which is happening globally - and one of the men who is doing a lot of work on improving it said that men can take on roles of caretakers and househusbands because those are possible now.
To me, that rings a bit hollow because for decades women have been struggling to get out of those roles because they’re not respected by society regardless of who does them. Saying that men now have the option to take them on doesn’t feel like a solid argument.
They made a lot of interesting points and covered a lot of reasons why men and boys are falling behind, especially in education, but that part felt like he hadn’t thought it the whole way through.
Does it make a Star Trek communicator sound when it opens? Because doing it myself is inconvenient.
