I feel like I have no other option. iPhones are better in principle, but the interface is awful. No back button alone is already a complete deal breaker for me. Samsung is bloatware, OnePlus is foreign spyware on top of Google’s spyware.

That happened a lot in NY too, I think we called them sticker shops
I’ve been pissed about this for a decade
Sort of. There are colleges within university in the US too, we just don’t usually talk about it
You’re right, based on that article. It doesn’t matter, I’m just pointing out that it wasn’t just a random choice to make her black. I’d argue they should have made her Iranian to be more accurate, but the claim is that people are randomly just changing skin colors in documentaries all willy nilly and so far the only example is a weak one.
Retirement accounts for myself and people close to me so we can live off the interest. Then probably a bigger house and a bunch of old cars
I brought up Hamilton because it’s particularly not a documentary
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleopatra_race_controversy Her race is actually heavily debated by historians, so that’s not a very clear cut example.

People don’t generally do that. If you’re referring to Hamilton, it was not a documentary or a biography. And historically white people did that all the time in plays/movies for entertainment, so why get all angry about it now that it’s not white people?
Always makes me wonder if he’s destroying it for Russia or republicans or something
Thing is, the risks of doing nothing have definite consequences that we’ve already been watching. Should we do nothing and let democracy burn in fear that doing something will be abused in the future?
Thanks for existing!

“we’re losing rights” or some people you don’t like are gaining safety? No rights are lost by combatting disinformation. It’s not like someone is just going to go out with a banhammer and say “I disagree so that’s disinformation, you’re banned”
I wasn’t referring to the case, but turns out I’m wrong anyway. Edited my original comment
That’s why we have three branches of government, a constitution, and state rights. Literally any government in bad hands can be abused. It’s a senseless argument
Started with wirebase.org because it’s local, but there was a lot of downtime. Switched to lemmy.sdf.org because they’re also local, but are also a really old group that still hosts Usenet stuff. I’ve recently learned that they have never defederated though, and so I’m considering leaving because I don’t believe in giving a platform to obvious disinformation and hate campaigns.
