Just place a panel right above where you work out and when you turn the panel on you feel the heat immediately, since the infrared waves gets blasted straight on to you. And you don’t have to heat the entire garage. Or hang one on a wall with a swivel hinge and you can change the direction of the radiation so when you move to the other side of the room you can aim it to that side.
Maybe the Kelvin Smart Space Heater. It’s a radiant heat panel. Works with Alexa and Google Home but if you pair it with their thermostat it works with Matter and Home Assistant out of the box.

Also don’t compare the wattage of these panels with a normal space heater. These panels are more efficient since they radiate infrared right onto the surfaces of your room and on to your body, instead of heating the air and letting the warm air warm the room and yourself.

I just use a mini pc I bought from AliExpress. It’s a GMKtec with an n100 it has SSD storage and plenty of ram. I use a Sonnoff ZBDongle-E for the Zigbee radio also from AliExpress. You can even flash the dongle to run OpenThread so you can use it for Matter. Though you need to buy two dongles to run both Zigbee and Thread. It cost almost the same as an HA Green.

It’s a protocol that runs over WiFi, Ethernet and Thread. So not Zigbee. Though the Zigbee alliance was part of the group that designed the Matter spec. Many Zigbee hubs also support Matter but the two protocols are on two distinct networks. And if you want to use Matter over Thread you need a device that can act as a Thread Border Router. Like an AppleTV or a Home Assistant instance with a Thread antenna.
