Sound more like a cleric kind of thing.

When the military unit gets a small task to proove, they are ready for the main quest.
- scroll snapping
- unit tests

- root access
- abstraction level
- unity framework
Mindflayers are definitly evil (from humanoid perstective) because of their species. They eat and bread brains. And they are interesting.
Clerics don’t need to choose.

41·2 years agoWhy are you getting down voted so much? Isn’t this just a post of you figuring out and explainig that dnd 5e isn’t the best fit for you (in a comedic way)? Did I misread the entire post?

Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•Do abilities like familiars, and scribe wizard's manifest minds etc make scouting/dungeons unfun? Where's the narrative tension?
4·2 years agoI think it is still fun. Just a different kind of fun. It shifts to a taktical game with lots of interesting strategic discussions instead of an exploration game.

1·2 years agoWell, of course it depends on the type of game and context, it just sounds a bit like an uninteresting tool, to just have a just invincible NPCs. I think special weaknesses make every NPC more interesting. Give the NPC a weakness (eg. Superman hs cryptonite or Lord Voldemord has Horcruxes).

If there is a local game store in a city nearby, you’ll likely find people, who are looking to play.
I disagree with your disagreement. Sure, if you already know your party and everyone is experienced, you can skip it, but if you start as a new player group, it is well invested time, that should be used to get to know each other and lineup expectatios.
Wouldn’t this backstory make more sense for a ranger?
