Fediverse@lemmy.world•It's been a while, which Lemmy instances should I be on?English
10·2 months agoLots of rude and hateful comments over here generating a ton of reports. Next time I’m issuing perma-bans for this kind of nonsense. Be respectful.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Why isn't Lemmy doing anything about issues where the propagandists/spammers can be seen spreading staged or AI-generated propaganda, such as "This is Gaza, Unfiltered"?English
9·3 months agoThe very question of “why isn’t Lemmy doing anything” is deeply misunderstanding the structure of this network. Report something offending and instance mods will look at it. You know, like all the reports I got about this post.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Wikipedia page for the fediverse describes a den of iniquityEnglish
1·4 months agoGotcha, thanks for the clarification. Clearly I don’t run in right circles to have ever heard that before.
I’m still getting a ton of reports about this thread. An open call for everyone to cool their jets please. I don’t really wanna lock anything.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is Meta Scraping the Fediverse for AI?English
42·5 months agoThe irony is that AI understood your comment way better than I did.
Also let’s stop with talk of death camp appointments.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Charging to tour rental properties...English
171·6 months agoWell I need the 24/7 phone and chat support. What if I have a question about my ability to tour a property at 2am?
Whatever the publicly stated purpose of the camp, the SS men who arrived there on 11 May 1933 were left in no illusion as to its real purpose by the speech given on that day by Johann-Erasmus Freiherr von Malsen-Ponickau
Comrades of the SS! You all know what the Fuehrer has called us to do. We have not come here for human encounters with those pigs in there. We do not consider them human beings, as we are, but as second-class people. For years they have been able to continue their criminal existence. But now we are in power. If those pigs had come to power, they would have cut off all our heads. Therefore we have no room for sentimentalism. If anyone here cannot bear to see the blood of comrades, he does not belong and had better leave. The more of these pig dogs we strike down, the fewer we need to feed.

Antiwork@lemmy.ml•Workers are coffee badging to get around return-to-office mandates. What is it?English
67·1 year agoMany are “coffee badging,” or swiping their ID badges at the office to record their arrival, staying 30 minutes or so ‒ long enough to greet colleagues and grab a cup of coffee – and then heading back home.

Lemmy@lemmy.ml•The randomly generated placeholder text for Photon amuses me. Where does it come from?English
15·1 year agoWhen I searched for the quote, the only result was this:
https://github.com/Xyphyn/photon/blob/36f8a87b95d0b6b6689c43cff09f08ddc13cd355/src/lib/util.ts#L37
My guess is that they wrote those themselves.
We’re on a tiny social network that is trying to gain users. Engagement matters and my response was the only one at the time I posted. I did investigate but I don’t have time to get to a definitive answer which is why I put a disclaimer on it.
It’s fine if you hate AI, it’s fine if you hate my comments. You’re welcome to downvote to oblivion or block me. I was trying to add something to the conversation that didn’t exist. I’m sorry that’s infuriated so many people.
The worst part, my AI answer is probably right.

Antiwork@lemmy.ml•Make CEOs afraid again. Copayback.English
422·1 year agoWhy post something mean that doesn’t add to the conversation? I tried to post what I believed what the right answer to the question being asked. You’re mad about where that answer came from.
Check my comment history and you tell me if I’m “looking for negative attention” or if perhaps I was trying to contribute to the community as a whole with what I believed was the right answer.
Say what you’re gonna say. I have no desire for negative attention on the platform. I genuinely don’t know why you even started in on me. Seems like you’re just unhappy or a generally rude individual. Block me if you don’t want to hear what I have to say.

1955·1 year agoChatGPT says:
It appears to be a photo taken in Chicago, Illinois. The distinctive skyline, including the Willis (Sears) Tower and the city’s recognizable downtown profile, suggests the picture was snapped along a roadway near the city’s lakefront. The curvature of the road and proximity to Lake Michigan’s shoreline strongly hints that this was taken along (or above) DuSable Lake Shore Drive, facing towards the Loop area and Chicago’s iconic skyline.
But I have zero personal information regarding it.

Games@sh.itjust.works•This new FPS is so good, it's almost unfair that it's free: A '1v1 me bro' simulator with 70 maps and no microtransactions that feels like the sickest Counter-Strike: Source mod of 2007English
5·1 year agoGave it a shot this weekend after seeing a piece about it on Friday. Generally I thought it was OK. The match making kind of sucks and it took me a number of “quick play” attempts until I was actually able to play.
Gameplay was fun, if not a bit frustrating. I got completely smoked by a couple of people and it felt like they had deep knowledge of the maps which was tough to counter.
All in all, for the price, it’s worth a pickup.

We’re talking about a government sponsored surveillance operation. I promise you they already know which license plates belong to you. I’m not sure I understand the risk here.
