Starfox never did it for me like Space Harrier. I’m not sure why. The primitive 3D maybe. Space Harrier creature design is just plain bizarre and intriguing.
I love Space Harrier. There are a handful of other third-person, on-rails shooters (Sin and Punishment), but nothing recent that I’m aware of.
Also, Bangai O on Nintendo DS is insanely fun. I can’t think of any other games where slowdown is a necessary mechanic.
Sexy Parodius is a bit sketchy, yes. But, it’s easily the most-fun shmup I’ve ever played. The music is fantastic, too. I’ve managed to 1cc the game, but I’ve never beaten the bonus stage which is just so ridiculously difficult, I question whether it’s even possible without a very specific strategy or something.
Unfortunately, the best version is the arcade one, and MAME doesn’t do the best job with it. Still playable, though.
Fantastic food. Entirely too rapey.
Pop quiz: four of the top five most anticipated games are Doom, Gears of War, Perfect Dark, and Assassin’s Creed: what year is it?
My older sister was supposed to get my name, but she was a she. It would have been fairly unique at her age. I came along five years later and got it at the height of its popularity, as a result there were three of us in my grade six class.
Getting Cicret Bracelet vibes from this one.
Ehh. What’s the average age around here? I’m guessing it wasn’t the youth that migrated from Reddit.
None! I live in Korea, and the local wildlife was long ago mostly displaced or eaten by the seething mass of humanity. Once upon a time, there were some cool bears and tigers even. There are some nice, big herons still around I suppose. Oh, some tiny deer, too.
That’s fair. You can get a closer shave with more passes, but that’s hard on your skin as well. I can’t stand having too much stubble. It gets to a point where it itches like crazy. I pushed through the itchy phase once, and having a beard was alright, but I got some pretty crazy acne underneath it.
Razors are expensive,
They don’t have to be! Dual edge safety razor blades are like $10 for 100. You could splurge ($50 for a nice one, or hundreds for a really nice, probably unnecessarily expensive one) on a nice handle that will last you the rest of your life, or get just about as good a shave with one that costs $10. Heck, if you’re lucky you could find some old, nice one at a garage sale that’s already been around 70 years, and will easily still be working fine when you’re dead. Unfortunately, like just about everything else old and good, they’ve become a bit trendy, so it might be hard to find deals like you used to be able to.
I use multiple monitors for audio production. My use case is a bit weird since I code Csound and use a DAW, which is unconventional. It’s great for having the DAW up on the 4k, and some code or docs or both on the 1080p, 144Hz. If you didn’t guess from the mixture of resolutions and frame rates, I’ve got gaming covered as well.
Truthfully, the 4k probably has the real estate to do all that on its own, but it was the last monitor I bought and why not use the other? I’m too lazy to figure out a setup to hook up the other 1080s I have lying around. (And don’t need the space in any case)
Probably a synthesizer. MEGAfm would be the coolest, but I imagine my desktop Hydrasynth would be more impressive.
You don’t have that problem when you write outre conceptual pieces.
So is “guys” as far as I’m concerned.
My headphone pads on a pair of Sony MD7506 were fraying apart, so I bought a pair of $3 replacement pads online. While I was buying those, I noticed a nice looking $30 pair made of sheepskin leather. I bought those, too and figured I’d just use the $3 pair until they inevitably wore out, and then switch to the nice ones. Well, it’s been some time now and the $3 pair are apparently far more robust than their forebears. The sheepskin remain in their packaging untouched. One day…
Can ROMs be extracted from fitgirl repacks? I searched this question, and it pointed me to the Reddit MEGAthread. I found that through here, but I still can’t find an answer. Thanks!
I’ve been using a pair of dual shock 4s for something like seven years now without any drift. I had to buy new stick tops because I wore them out.
OTOH, the dual sense I bought started drifting so badly, it was unusable after a year.
Ahh yes, definitely. I should have said that isn’t strictly a traditional shmup. Bangai O definitely has many elements of shmups, but the level design and many of the mechanics are quite unique to it.
