I’m not an Apple person but IIRC their appstore is functional for already purchased and free apps. New purchases, as well as import of devices, are done via various grey schemes like via currencies and borders of third countries. I can’t recall news about someone getting individually banned for that, but some opportunistic foreign banks closed their doors to rubles fearing sanctions. Official stores are closed, but I guess their repair\replace services are still operated but without a connection to the Apple themselves. There were also services to install non-Appstore banking clients and government’s services via some loopholes. At the same time, except for the app in the OP, some apps can choose not to be availiable in a select country on their own.

I guess Apple did the formal exit and then stopped to care. It’s not operating in Russia per se, but it operates in other countries with entities barely passing as legal consumers and resellers. They still get their profits as usual, and these interlayer smugglers make big bucks enough to be advertised in every second russian youtube video. Is there then a mechanism to make Apple filter them out?

Having an internet connection, a proper AI can easily order contractors around and reproduce, secure and empower itself.

Godbless the hype is about stupid t9 on steroids, but we don’t really have any safeguards against what we assume is a proper autonomous AI.

I still find that game impressive with how straightforward and addictive its’ gameplay is. I have a hard time playing other RTS games like C&C, TW or War\Starcraft after it. Guess I’m happy to find my favorite flavour of RTS.

And Lemmy doesn’t have a button to follow individual users or have a multireddit, for them or for some communities. On Reddit I had my porn subs collected into one tab (+Friends tab) and this didn’t show anywhere else, but there it’s only solvable by creating another account on lemmynsfw for that while banning all porn on your main acc. Following one creator without their own /c/ is a problem.

IIRC Wordpress had plugins to autorepost into other places. Maybe if Lemmy had one, it could’ve been perceived as less isolated by OC authors. For now you need to put effort to post a thing there too, for the sake of a small 1 mil userbase.

Just like with cryptocurrencies as a crime tool, it needs to get traction so interesting transactions mix with ordinary ones. Making the list of deviating individuals (that won’t be leaked in a week, I promise) singles them out as the ones you do want to spy on. Proponents of this law are both evil and stupid.

But as you are still in Uni, you can ask other people to discuss homework, complete it together, eat out in some food chain or a cafeteria when you have a break. You don’t turn 100% of these into friendships, a small percentage of these come to fruition, but even small connections make you not alone. You can also start gym and ask assistance there - guys like to coach others. But the same approach can be extrapolated to other places too - if you act dumb at one of the clubs you mention, some people are naturally kin to help you out, and in thid process you can talk to them.

I would probably be 100% incorrect, but from a consumer perspective, web 2.0 is all in social network platforms and apps that replaced the need for individual sites, these are their own internets inside the internet that you don’t even want to leave to find something.

Would you describe it further? I don’t see how coming to a subscription-based model makes it not piracy. I feel like I miss something there.

I died a little inside by remembering that I was there when their lifetime CS licenses were sold and that licensing servers went offline at least a dozen of years ago… On the other hand, it raises a question if breaking CS versions is a piracy if they are abandoned. There’s no way to use them even if you are a paid customer wanting to install it on your new PC.
