I might visit the slightly unhinged coffee van man at the market. He’s quite switched on in a lot of ways, but he seems to have lived a difficult life and is struggling to carry the load somewhat. We have some interesting conversations, and he usually gives me a free coffee. Also there is a hotdog stand near him and I might get a hotdog.
I looked that guy up, but couldn’t find him talking about 3:2. But I found another video that showed 3:2 AND 2:3 and one of those fit perfectly. I didn’t realise I could simplify it to 3 and 2 - I was trying to find 4/4 over 6/8 and all sorts of nonsense. 3 and 2. Simple. Cheers.
Well, it’s just a riff at this point. And my riffs tend to have sections, and I only have one section. Early days. If I make something worth sharing, I’ll share.
I don’t have a drummer, but you might be the one to ask about another piece. All of it’s in 4/4 except the main riff, which is (I think) 6/8. I really want to do a polyrhythm but I’m not sure how to make it flow with the straight 4/4 stuff. Any ideas?
I was working on a song in 5/4 when I accidentally wrote this chonking big riff in 7/8. Sounds like Soundgarden with a Rammstein touch. I usually don’t like 7/8 but this riff has something magical about it.
This version of Where Did You Sleep Last Night has been on repeat today https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ctuyHOym7IY
Waterfox because I liked Firefox for years then it got bloated and Waterfox is less bloated.
A welcome swallow landed right next to me yesterday. They’re usually very skittish and aloof but this one landed on a post about 3 metres from me and stared at me. When I’d had a good look and a little chat, it flew back up to its hiding spot. Not scared or anything, just like “well, I got stuff to do now, human. Catch ya”. Very cool little moment.
Trying to stay off my broken toe, work on my conlang (possibly start a new one), work on my song in 5/4, explore some classical music to broaden my experience of that world. That’s what I HOPE the weekend is like haha.
So far it’s just 2 interwoven sections of strummed chords, very simple sections. But it sounds so bouncy! I’ll post it if I manage to do something good with it.
My broken big toe is healing enough that now I’m only hobbling a little bit (comparatively). Started writing a song in 5/4. Had a nice Vietnamese meal. Planted some new plants in the garden, including a dianthus which I looked up and found interesting. Signed up to mbin. Those are the highlights.
Diesel - not sniffing the container, but smelling burnt diesel in the air. Also the slightly putrid smell of a creek after it rains and all the gunk has been moved around and the sun has been blasting it and you can almost chew on the odour, it’s that thick. I rather like that.
I literally just signed up. I will try to do better in future.
I started a new conlang. The idea is to use sounds that require minimal movement of the mouth. It’s already quite weird.
