Relax bidey-bro, this thread is about data privacy laws, not general stuff. The only relevant one I’m aware of is DMCA, which was in fact signed into law by Bill Clinton.

Yep, this is good for Lemmy
HL3 is on the way bro, trust me!
😆
I’m in favor of “recall ‘em all”, this rule change could be just the ticket!
Yes, but agree with most of the other comments here. It should be lowered to 65-67 instead.

Been working great for me for years! You do need to take care when setting up for a stable and consistent experience, but their docs are pretty thorough and regularly updated.
Path of Exile.
Still am, but used to be too. Eagerly anticipating poe2 release.
Insider trading by Congress
💀
now this is pro-mode!
Repugs just can’t get this through their thick skulls - freedom to act does not grant freedom from consequence.
Oof, devastating numbers. Thanks for the link.
nearly fed up with covering for Israel’s genocide
The US is doing far more than covering for it, we are enabling it via massive funding and contributing the very bombs being used to decimate Gaza and murder 10s of thousands of civilians. Biden’s willingness to let Bibi order us around and use us as cover is absolutely pathetic - Biden, and by proxy the US, are completely captured by the far-right extremist government of a foreign nation state. This is the weakest posturing imaginable for a world leader, and it’s entirely because Biden is a genocidal Zionist freak.
“Bipartisan backing” in DC means one thing only - Congress is getting paid. It’s gross that AIPAC can buy air cover for a genocide so easily, but such is the extent of corruption in the US.
We are 6 months into this ethnic cleansing, and these baby steps are not nearly enough at this juncture. For fuck’s sake even Trump beat Biden to the natural conclusion of demanding Israel put a stop to this. The bar is so low it’s literally on the ground and Biden just faceplants in front of it. Pathetic.
So true, except I would slightly modify this to be:
- Wealthy and Powerful
They almost always go hand-in-hand anyway. This was perfectly exemplified when Obama stated he would not be looking to prosecute W Bush for war crimes at Abu Graib, Guantanamo, etc. “We look forward, not backward.” Considering there is not future/thought crime, I’m pretty sure this logic is flawed as all crimes which have occurred occur in the past.
And then of course Obama proceeded to do extra-judicial killings of US citizens by drone strike.
We seriously need that criminal justice reform, as justice no longer appears to exist in our society at all.
Dems can offer a better alternative by simply leading by example. Stop leaning ever rightward and chasing the republicans to the bottom of the barrel. Progressive policies will work to win over hate-addled republicans because these policies will immediately and materially improve those people’s lives. If it affects them personally, republican voters will finally “get it.” When the republicans then argue that these policies need to be taken away, the voter sentiment will turn sour quickly.
This is yet another positive baby step by Biden. But come on Joe, let’s just rip the bandaid off and do it: Corporate tax at 50%, and no fucking loopholes to offshore earnings. Do it you coward, that’s all the tax revenue you’d ever need to actually be FDR 2.0. Do you care about your legacy or not?
Asking whether those things are hate speech is a yes/no question. Pretending to not know Kirk is a racist sack of shit was obvious deflection. Good on the students for calling out this bs.
Rittenhouse acting like a complete and utter coward. Gee, color me surprised.
Trump had 61 court cases alleging election interference and voter fraud, and every last one was immediately thrown out during discovery because he provided no evidence. Thankfully completely bullshit claims do still fall flat in the us justice system.
However, the fake electors scheme was a very real coups attempting to subvert democracy, and we have plenty of evidence on it. I’d love for Harris to appoint an aggressive AG who will work tirelessly to ensure this doesn’t happen again because of the consequences for treason.
