If you already have a key attach it to a Microsoft account, then when you log in after upgrading and reinstalling it’ll activate. No piracy needed.
If Google wants to do that they don’t need to ask, they can just do it. The only way around that is to turn off Google apps ability to install apks. Probably all of their apps.
It’s still Chrome and it’s only technically a different app unless you’ve rooted your phone to replace it.
Go add a 2.4 era driver to a modern kernel and see how that goes.

Subscription apps are pretty common in the Apple ecosystem. Have you tried a different OS, Windows or Linux? You don’t even have to change anything to do so, you can run them in a virtual machine.
