completely agree with you. I can’t believe why you are getting downvoted. Promoting a platform which is funded by the CIA, US gov and Israel. Completely insane really I don’t understand how people are still believing this. They really need to wake up to the truth otherwise things will never change. Privacy will stay an illusion we give ourselves to believe that nobody can read our messages (even if they absolutely can)
I’m not forcing you to believe anything. Also this is a free platform where I can say what I think. I won’t hold myself back from expressing my view only because the majority has a different opinikn (looking at the downvotes). I personally just wouldn’t trust it. And it also doesn’t have any difference to Whatsapp and co. (encryprion algos are the same) which completely removes the purpose of it even existing (ik open source is still an argument. But they don’t have reproducable builds so even that falls apart) so there really isn’t any reason for me to switch to it or promote it to anybody at all.
Signal is much worse than Telegram (in terms of privacy)
Telegram just exposed Signal to not be secure at all. So I don’t think going from Whatsapp to Signal makes any difference at all. They have the same encryption algorithms proposed by the US in the year 2000.

Ok fair enough. But (outside of the context) defederating/banning certain communities because they don’t have the same beliefs as you can lead to a fully opinionated/based fediverse and should be prevented imo. Everybody should be able to express their opinions no matter what. I don’t want lemmy to change into some kind off mass media like everything else rn. If a post isn’t showing a good/kind, people respecting vibe, it will be downvoted and thus not shown to anybody. And later if lemmy creates an algorithm of some kind, these posts can be ghosted for certain individuals. But i don’t think they should be completely removed and banned from the connected fediverse as this platform is one of the only ways to express ourselves online at this point. I hope i could get my point across
