Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think Lemmy has a culture separate from Reddit or is it basically the same?
3·7 months agoLemmy is a bit more open thanks for the modlog.
We literally don’t know how much is being censored on reddit because mods can remove anything they want without leaving evidence.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Everyone talks about the 4th dimension, BUT why is 3D geometry so hard for the average person compared to 2D ?
2·7 months agoLet me guess, you’re the kind of person who thinks we need to understand gravity to make use of it.
I really wish people like you could just have their mouths taped shut and their fingers glued together.

2·7 months agoGood luck.
Keep in mind there’s no way to rush hours. Whenever you’re learning something, you can ask yourself roughly how many hours you’ve spent on it. That should reflect your skill and there’s no way around it.

2·7 months agoAn argument could be said that 3D space is infinitely more complex than 2D space.
As with most things, skill comes with practice. It’s not really worth forcing people to learn something that has a low likelihood of being relevant to their lives, but simple exposure to something like Blender or Godot would be great for making more people familiar with 3D software.
Voting is fine the way it is.
Any instances with issues can change settings for themselves.
Try using a PS4 controller. The touchpad works as a mouse.
I’d also recommend getting a wireless keyboard + mouse combo.

Saying it costs $5000/month to host infosec.exchange radiates bullshit like a nuclear explosion. You must be doing something very wrong, or lying about the requirements.
Don’t trust people when they want to take money from you. Money brings out the worst in people.

55·7 months agoDid they share any receipts or official documents to back up their claims?
They have a really good racket going on and want to make sure people keep giving them way more money than is necessary. It’s simply not true that Infosec.Exchange requires $5000/month to operate unless they’re doing something very wrong or just straight up lying.
Money brings out the worst in people.

I’m partly to blame for this.
I have telemetry turned on and recently switched to Wayland. They’re looking at the data and decided me switching was the final straw.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What GNU + Linux software could enable deep integration of backup, sync, and transfer; just as convenient and beginner-friendly (edit: and efficient) as what Apple provides?
131·7 months agoiCloud shit is only ‘convenient and beginner friendly’ because you’re paying someone else to do all the work and maintenance for you.
Your misunderstanding comes from the type and amount of people that needed to have that knowledge.
For example, we don’t need to know about ballistics to use a gun.
Do you have a source for this? I’m genuinely curious, considering Newton didn’t show up until the 17th century.
