Everything it says is shit

Whenever a genuinely obnoxious post is upvoted multiple times, I always wonder how many of those upvotes are from the pathetic author’s alts, and how many are from people who are just fellow assholes.

I’ve seen more sealioning than simple trolling. Sometimes, I can’t resist replying, because I’m not sure if they’re genuinely seeing things differently, or just because their games annoy me.

How are you not proving his point? The very first thing I said was “that’s unfortunate”, because I empathize. I also used the word “maybe” because I’m not omniscient and could very well be wrong. Describing my own experience is not “bragging” or “hostile”, and since it’s related to the topic at hand, certainly isn’t arbitrary.

Unlike you, I didn’t lead off with a paragraph of assumptions.

I’m not even touching that ridiculous “group dynamics” bullshit, or the personal insults. They speak for themselves quite well. Have you ever heard of giving someone the benefit of the doubt?

Don’t waste too much effort on your inevitable reply. I won’t be reading it.

That’s unfortunate, because it’s the opposite of my experience. Maybe I just don’t care, and/or I’ve gotten better at spotting the warning signs of trivial bullshit and then ignoring it.

The trolls feel like insecure outsiders who haven’t matured enough to “get” Lemmy. It’s like they know they aren’t taken seriously, and want the imaginary clout they had on Reddit.

Because he’s my nephew. I care about him. He’s only in high school, he’s saving up for one, and I don’t want him to be disappointed/frustrated and waste his money on a crappy printer. If I can steer him away from bad printers and software, great!

I also don’t want him to be discouraged. He’s smart, talented, and basically I want him to kick ass everything he does (I know that’s unrealistic, but hey, that’s the uncle in me talking). Plus, being good at 3D printing will be a valuable skill.

This was an interesting read, but I’ve got stuff to do today, so I skipped the 90 minute video on their “outrageously ambitious mission”. Anyone care to summarize?

I just learned this yesterday, and still can’t believe it. How can it not support hashtags? How do you find anything? Do they plan on supporting hashtags in the future, or are they on some kind of idiotic anti-hashtag crusade?

My nephew wants to buy a 3D printer, and I’d like to warn him. I’m worried that I’m too ignorant to do it effectively, though.

At one of my old jobs, someone who was a manager at another business called and assumed I was a manager as well. He asked for a reference on an employee who had recently quit. The guy who left hadn’t been very good at the job, but he was a good person, clearly trying something different in a new field. I gave him a good “reference”, and the other manager sounded happy.

I wonder how it went for my old coworker…

Some people just like debating. It’s incredibly refreshing when someone you completely disagree with raises a thoughtful, interesting point.

I’m more of a casual user who’s just here for the news and memes, so fortunately I don’t have that problem.

A mattress, sheets, and at least one pillow. It can be expensive, but the first time you lay down in a bed that’s actually comfortable, you’ll know it was worth it.

Florida is south of New York, and Florida state officials are making public statements that you’d expect from someone wearing a tin foil hat. OP might want to take that into account when choosing a place to live.
