Voyager for iPad because is the exact same experience I had with Apollo for Reddit which was the best Reddit client back then. Boost for Android because, well, is the same as Boost for Reddit which was the best on Android :)

There has been some attempts like Qualcomm Aptx-lossless but the hardware support, compatibility and reliability it’s lacking . It’s good companies are working on it but we still are a few years from getting it right.
I will add that I don’t mind if, on top o the flat rate, there is a few years of free updates until you have to renew your license, as long as you can keep using your “outdated version“ for as long as you want. I see this model in many professional apps I’ve used over the years (Sketch or Affinity apps for example) and I find it very reasonable because I understand that ongoing development requires investment.
Modern “journalism” in a nutshell
What’s your age? Me and my friends used to have that mindset when we were around 20. Things naturally changed from there.
Paying for bloatware? Well, that’s a new thing for sure.
Unless you pay extra… or unsubscribe.
More bloating on an already bloated phone
The only thing I miss is immersive mode, aka hidden status bar on scroll. Otherwise it’s perfect.
I installed Firefox the other day but small at it might be the lack of immersive mode (aka hide the status bar on scroll) was a deal breaker for me. After a couple of years using Samsung Internet I got too used to it. Hopefully there will be an extension for this.
Here in Spain the non pro version is €250 cheaper (€650 vs. €900).
Aside from price, the fact that they are twice as thicker as a regular phone make them pointless for me. When we have the technology to make them 8-12mm thickness I might be interested.
Yes, it’s on Play Store, here is a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.vger.voyager
Weird, I have pretty much all Lemmy native apps installed on my S22 and all of them run buttery smooth. The Voyager native app runs noticeable smoother than the web app for me.
Greed, probably.
6 inch is the perfect size for me. The S23 with no notch, thinner, lighter and even smaller bezels would be my dream phone.
Yup, that was the iPhone 6 screen. If Jony Ive’s dream of a glass slab would come true, a phone of that size (under 7mm thickness by the way) with a bezeless display would have been at around 5-5.5 inch. That’s what phones should be like now instead of horrible camera bumps and notches.
Voyager just released as and app too (previously it was only available as a web app). If you liked Apollo back in the day you are going to like it.
These comics are very wholesome, keep them coming :)
Why not? Some of my most beloved ships are from video games, like the Ebon Hawk from KOTOR
