Most word processors will auto-format to em dashes when they detect regular dashes in context of a sentence with a space on either side

I downvoted because it was a deflection that didn’t address the very real issue presented to you

Ok, let’s walk through the implication.
-Women are oppressed.
-Men are not oppressed.
Who again are you saying is doing the oppressing? You’re blind to the fact that most men are also oppressed, and pretending that men can just go out in society and be safe being vulnerable is willfully ignorant

glances at profile
Def a guy

We’re talking about Lemmy communities here, having a men’s-only space to discuss men’s issues is totally fine. Also, demeaning men’s-only spaces and placing men in a uniform category as “the oppressor group” is awful for society

Literally nothing is stopping you from creating a community for men with a rule that only men participate. The difference is that in the community you’re thinking about though, women wouldn’t be constantly trying to mess with it. There are hundreds of communities to choose from. We’re not entitled to participate in them all.
That ick ending up all over your counters and your toothbrush flushing with the lid open
You close the lid before you flush, right? …right?

4 hour old account, I see

Congressional Democrats subpoenaed Epstein’s estate, then released them publicly

The famines, which outside of World War II when the Nazis deliberately attacked their farms, and outside of the 1930s, which had famine induced by weather disaster and magnified by privledged capitalist farmers called “kulaks” destroying their livestock and grain to prevent collectivization?
You’re really looking at this through red-tinted glasses. It’s ok to admit that there were also serious missteps by Stalin that magnified the extent of this famine, and that it was intentionally made worse for some ethnic minorities.

Are you seriously thinking this is how revolution in the US would go?

Some people aren’t mincing their words about it either, calling the deals “circular financing” or even “vendor financing” - where a company invests in or lends to its own customers so they can continue making purchases.
“Yes, the investment loans are unprecedented,” Mr Altman told me on Monday.
But, he added, “it’s also unprecedented for companies to be growing revenue this fast.”
OpenAI’s revenue is growing quickly, but it has never turned a profit.
While this may be something that has happened, this definitely is not something “the homeless do” in the US

Is there a way to make votes private in the fediverse? Seems tricky given the voting data needs to be visible to every federated server
They look like good, strong hands…

You really missed the point on this one, huh

This feels dismissive of feminism, and seems to miss the point by citing a bunch of examples that are anti-feminist. You’re getting caught up in political drama and missing that this is a life philososophy that can underpin how any one person fundamentally treats others and that exists independently of current events. The question is, are you a feminist?
The movie Koyaanisqatsi has some documentary footage of New York City streets from the late 70s, and there are some scenes where they’re packed. I’ve never been to NY so can’t speak from experience, but if they’re less busy now, maybe that has to do with cultural changes and the internet replacing much of what we used to do in real life?
