Admitted, it was a bit reductive and mean, because I was annoyed about the long list of meaningless mumbo-jumbo in the post, without explaining what this app supposedly does / is useful for. If people have something useful to present, why not start with the useful bit of info? “Managing knowledge management” sounds a bit like the “president of the tautology association presidency”
Still doesn’t make sense, nor does it sound useful.
Not sure if joking…
No one cares about your profession, nor does being capable of thinking logically magically get bestowed upon you, as you have demonstrated above. This is not about one-upping you, I genuinely believe you are empathetically disabled, based on your comments. So seek help, maybe?
Learn some logic. And empathy, while you’re at it…
Definitely not. His bombs killed hundreds of millions of animals, too…
Its a tool. It should be designed to be useful as possible to anyone who needs such a tool.
Twenty years ago I might have agreed. Now, in hindsight, I can say that giving everyone access to computers & thereby the internet has brought out the worst in humanity, including mass-manipulation and authoritarian regimes thanks to people making even worse calls in elections than they used to.
My main point is: If the desktop environment “expert” toggle is set once, gimmicks like this one here would be disabled by default. On a default installation, with the “expert” toggle to “off”, those same gimmicks might be enabled by default.
The kind if person who would benefit from that shouldn’t be using a computer. But then again, most smartphone users shouldn’t be using a phone. How about choosing different default settings in an installation based on a central “expert” vs “newbie” setting?
This kind of bullshit shouldn’t ever be on by default. KDawful reminds me again why I ditched it for XFCE.
I don’t use any services that make me identifiable to search engines, I use ublock origin, I occasionally delete all my browsing history + cookies, and of course I’d never watch porn winkwink I’d say any corporation/entity outside the ISP would at the very least have a hard time tracking my porn preferences ;)
Do you really want your porn search results linked to your credit card + name? oO
Have you been following the news though? The 180 policy swings the moment it seemed good for business under a new administration in the divided states? Is it really so far-fetched to worry about a dipshit at the top of a company?
How dare you find a tone to respond that makes me regret my original harsh choice of words a little? :P Still - my point was that no matter how much Torvals is involved, the linux ecosystem isn’t under his control, while proton services are very much under corporate control, and if their CEO decides to introduce a backdoor for american nazi services, that can happen.
Your analogy/ example is fucked up and beyond stupid. Protonmail is hosted by the organization. Linus has no access to the Linux systems in the world. Also, thousands have contributed to the Linux ecosystem.
yeah, proper facepalm there… hello Winsucks Recall…
That falls under convenience. Getting others to leave corporate bullshit malware and/or spyware takes effort (and I know very well how frustrating it is). Personally I refuse to use discord or FascistApp (I guess with the recent policy changes that name is warranted) etc with all the implications that it has.
Been using matrix since forever :) But the dissing of shitty corporate centralized applications is necessary because way too many naive users still give their data away for convenience.
doesn’t have the same ring to it as
The first one sounds like it’s a meta-management engine with a very abstract purpose that is not explained in OP. The second - your wording - sounds like a simple Notes app, and I mean “simple” in a good way. The OP doesn’t manage to communicate such a simple message.
