The way I see it: PC has a high upfront cost with minimal maintenance/upgrade cost to continue using it with newer releases for years.
Consoles have a cheaper upfront cost but no maintenance/upgrade. Once it’s obsolete (as determined by the industry, not the owner) then you are forced to buy a new console for new releases.
For me, in practice, I know for a fact that I have spent less on my PC components and games than I would if I wanted the same experience on a console.
I’ve been a PC gamer for 3 decades. Most budget conscious PC gamers I know upgrade individual components as needed. Done this way, you can easily get more for your money than having to buy a new console every cycle.

Does ActivityPub report back bans to the user’s home instance? I could see a moderation tool that let the admin autoban their users if enough federated instances had banned them.
I always report. However, I heard that the report only goes to the admin of your instance. Maybe future releases will support cross instance reporting and the ability for admins to “trust” bans by admins from other instances.

Bots are already proliferating the fediverse. Kbin is constantly spammed with “buy online drugs here” links. Transparent bots (those that are tagged as bots) try to boost engagement by reposting things from Reddit, but are still perpetuating one of the worst aspects of reddit even if they’re being upfront about it. AI generated articles posted on obvious junk websites are constantly being spammed by the same accounts.
It’s a difficult problem to solve.
Disinformation via AI is going to be absurd, especially if Google keeps going down the path of “Here’s an AI summary of search results”. It’s only a matter of time before someone figures out how to manipulate the AI through bad data.
Google has already lost the SEO war and they (supposedly) knew how their algorithms worked. How do they ever expect to control the AI black box?

I get what you’re saying. He was a kid and probably had a fucked up childhood that led to everything. It’s rare that people like that develop in a vacuum. But that’s an explanation of how he got here, not an excuse.
Now he’s an adult. There are definitely people on the right using him, but he made the decision to let them. He could have easily slunk into the shadows and gone on with his life. Instead, he felt the court acquittal wasn’t enough and had to continue to prove he was right for his actions on the public stage. That’s his choice and his alone.
He deserves the ridicule.

So the timeline (from my memory as I recall it):
From personal experience, refunds aren’t off the table. My wife has been a nurse for over 10 years. She just got a refund check from the Treasury stating that she over paid on her student loans. It wasn’t an insignificant amount.
Honestly, I wish more news sites would refrain from naming party affiliation. It forces people to think of the content of the statements first.
The problem I see that doesn’t get mentioned enough is he has literally built a cult around himself. This makes it extra difficult to make him face consequences because he can easily turn himself into a martyr in his cult’s eyes, which exacerbates the problem even more.
I think the cases brought against him already took so long because they knew they had to be air tight. Any legal wiggle room gives him more ammo to say “See, witch-hunt!”
IMO, the best thing that could happen for America is for him to die of natural consequences. It would deflate his cult as they tried to reconcile him being the god-delivered savior of the US and him just dying suddenly of natural causes. There would likely be conspiracies, as there always are, but it may be enough to snap some of the less radicalized out of this fucking trance he has them in.
We’ve also seen that his lackeys cannot play his game as well as he can. The hammer would fall easily on those left in his wake.
