I know I cannot win this one, but on my last attempt to reason with them, I asked for a list of allowed domains…

Sucks to see something go this way. Recently I was forced to flash stock ROM on an older phone to be able to use revolut, because they cracked down on custom firmwares…
Oh, the good ol’ T&C violation, of course not saying which part… vinted is smashing hard on people not using big tech solutions.
You practically either have the option to use your “subdomain” e.g. foo@mylittlepony.addy.io or if you are fine with random characters, then you can have an address on the main domain e.g. xhgj18273@addy.io. Unfortunately this is not the first provider I see only accepting big tech addresses/accounts…
My guess is that the agents answering are also not shared any information why some domains are blocked. I would also think that they have no idea what a domain is. Not the chatbots that answered the first couple of mails. :D
The idea is that is it more “real” than the other social media apps, because you cannot prepare your best self for the photo and not necessarily the best memory of that day will be recorded. Reality is that most people (maybe all people) have a relatively boring life (it’s not everyday that something worthy of attention happens) and there is not much value in sharing e.g. your lunch. Most people had it that day and yours was also not that extraordinary.
Unfortunately since facebook (maybe instagram topped it) everyone may have their own tabloid platform to share their everyday life as celebrities do on tabloids and people seem to love it.
Not to mention the huge privacy concern that you post of a photo everyday, which may include your location, definitely your face and other useful information that may be used to hurt or annoy you in some way.
ritchie@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it me or Ubuntu secretly replaces DEB Firefox with Snap Firefox?3·5 months agoI have a laptop that needs a proprietary wifi driver. I just “love” it when the debian net installer works out of the box, but after first boot wifi dies because the driver is missing in the installed instance :D I need to find a lan cable, do some athletics to get to the router, then install the driver and only then I can connect via wifi :D
ritchie@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it me or Ubuntu secretly replaces DEB Firefox with Snap Firefox?6·5 months agoI must have hit that 1% last time. I assembled a new PC, wanted to install debian and could not get a login screen after installation. At that point I wanted something that just works. I installed Xubuntu and had the machine ready right away.
ritchie@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it me or Ubuntu secretly replaces DEB Firefox with Snap Firefox?6·5 months agoI got a notification about it when I upgraded from 20.04 LTS that they will only serve it as a snap package.
ritchie@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•I Tried Running Ubuntu on My Phone, Here's How It Went3·8 months agoAnd it will not get upgraded to 20.04, it will stay on 16.04. My biggest issue was that I could not do much with it. It was only a bit better than a dumbphone. Without apps, every mobile OS dies and back in the day I could not even get Signal working. It was a pain to set up webdav for contacts sync and when I gave up and wanted to use my own nextcloud, it refused to work because of my https cert…
Most probably true. It is sad though that they are not straightforward about it so that they send a list of domains they like.
