Gasoline and diesel are different fractions of the oil with different hydrocarbon chain lengths. Refineries have some flexibility to choose one over the other, but they always produce both. Getting rid of just one isn’t really doable; you need to get rid of both.
They’re not clowns; they’re being highly effective at exactly what they intend to achieve: maximizing opportunity for racist gerrymanders to enable Republicans to win elections.
They may not fail on their own; polling shows Trump as having a decent chance of winning in the general election this fall. It takes actively working to stop the Republicans from holding power. That means checking to make sure your voter registration hasn’t been purged, volunteering, andif you can afford it, providing financial support to the Biden campaign and Democrats in close house and close senate campaigns.
It’s not meant to be a demonstration of belief, it’s about a demonstration of subservience. Getting people to say something that everybody knows to be a lie, and do it in public, is a way of getting them to demonstrate that loyalty is more important than anything else.
There are better replacements, but they tend to look like a fully government-run system, ending the profits of private insurers and major hospital operators. Those are ideologically unacceptable to the Republicans.
We could have that if we had more and better Democrats; Joe Machin, bought off by the coal industry, insisted on almost-all-carrots legislation, and no Republican would step up to replace his vote.
The survey compared those who watch Fox with those who watch neutral outlets like CNN. Those getting news from Fox were 100% planning to vote for Trump. Those watching neutral outlets had a minority who would not.
Changing media diet makes a really big difference
If we want zero emissions, it’s going to mean no fossil fuels. Every new hookup means decades of burning fossil gas.
Not hooking up new buildings is one step along the way; a full retrofit of existing buildings and decommissioning of the gas pipeline network, like Ithaca is already doing, is necessary as well.
Thanks.
Could definitely be, though the complaints came in more than an hour after the comments were removed.
Complaints I’m seeing aren’t from a mod, so it’s not that.
Could be something like caching the comment after I’ve done the removal.
It varies by server.
Some show ‘removed by moderator’: https://lemmy.world/post/13392555
Some servers don’t show them at all: https://fedia.io/m/climate@slrpnk.net/t/640012/The-Boeing-737-Max-was-marketed-as-eco-friendly-But-marketing
The people I’m aware of having problems are using sync on lemmy.world
Problem is that a big chunk of new vehicle buyers never run their old cars into the ground like that; they treat ‘new car every few years’ as a status symbol. And a big chunk of vehicle buyers can only ever afford used cars. So it’s important that new vehicles all be electric, and not just some random subset.
That’s a really close thing. I recommend spending some time canvassing in a swing district near you if you’re able.
Prices have been dropping for years, and continue to do so. It’ll happen.
Getting real money for those means getting Congress on board to appropriate it.
Definitely want a hard block like other platforms. The fact that ‘block’ is treated as ‘mute’ is really damaging in terms of enabling harassment.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true in some states. Look up the rules where you are.
No. A lot of those uses aren’t particularly dangerous unless you start doing things like drilling holes in it or otherwise producing dust. If it needs to be replaced, you’re on the hook for hiring somebody to remove it safely. Its use in new construction has been banned for decades.
This is just a ban on the last few uses of it.
Fascist dictatorships can last a surprisingly long time. Spain’s lasted for decades.
