Should have used the word “unfortunate.” “Homeless” was just the first word to come to mind for taking delight in a cruel fashion.
I wasn’t comparing them to homeless people, though I see how that was derived. I was rather asking if people are completely devoid of empathy. More like, “do you laugh at the unfortunate.”
Edited to clarify that I’m not calling Heaxbears “homeless.”
The schadenfreude on Lemmy for Hexbear is somewhat disturbing to me. So you didn’t like them. They are still people. Stop cheering things going badly for them. Do you laugh at homeless people, starving people, someone who falls down and gets injured?
Their users wanted to defederate right away when they saw the rest of Lemmy. The people in charge (able to pull the switch) kept telling them to hold on and it’d get better. A small number of people made the decision for all of them. It’s all the rest for whom I genuinely feel bad. Their community was highjacked and, I think to them, attacked. I can have empathy for the average users.
I might be daft (Mac for desktop use, Linux for servers), but do they not run with Wine?
People are downvoting your comments about your actual experience and that’s not helpful.
Folks, please don’t downvote an unpopular (to you) opinion. Instead, try to prove for more info and provide your expertise to help someone try to have a better experience. The point is to help someone learn how to enjoy Linux, not hate them for not liking it. Don’t be counterproductive and solidify a bad reputation of Linux users.
Thanks! Unlike a lot of Lemmy users, I have a soft spot for hexbears. I think they had a genuinely traumatic experience when they federated and their very personal instance was inundated with people who didn’t think and talk as they did. I’m glad they’re ok.
I walked up to two women at a bar and asked for a number. She said she wouldn’t give her number out to a stranger without knowing them. I offered to talk with her and said my friend could chat with her friend so she wouldn’t be rude to her friend. My buddy has a great personality, is married, has kids, isn’t the least bit threatening.
After chatting for between five and ten minutes, she gave me her number. When I texted her to follow up she declined a date but praised the real-world pursuit rather than online. I lost on that one, but I also succeeded in charming her enough to give me her number. Helps to have a great wingman.
Smart TVs are subsidized by selling your data.
Thanks for clarifying.
I dated someone from Mauritius. French is the primary language there. It took months for me to pick up on her accent because her USA English was so good.
So, basically, “fuck you, we broke it, you deal with it.”
I understand the watch having these features more than a I do with the bike. My sis-in-law runs marathons. I get why a phone is undesirable when running. I don’t get why when cycling, as it can just be attached to the frame of the bike.
Yeah, but I was only commenting on things like GPS and 5G. I know that my phone doesn’t track my heartrate (by default) and so on. I see no reason not to have those functions in the handlebar computer. I just don’t see why actual phone features would be duplicated, making the whole thing more complex and more expensive.
Features include GPS connectivity for mapping as well as 5G and Bluetooth support, integration with common cycling sensors, long battery life, built-in lighting, and more. A rearview mirror camera had originally been planned, though any rear-focused plans are currently on hold.
That seems a little silly to me. It could be lower cost if it relied on the user’s smartphone for some of this hardware. But I’m not a cyclist, so perhaps there are reasons that aren’t obvious to me.
Contra on NES.
Reliable software. It’s a thing of the past.
I think it’s great that the UK stepped on their dick and this made big news in the tech world. I don’t know if it got any play in more mainstream news, but it highlighted the dangers of over-regulation.
I’m typically pro-regulation, btw. I’m not a libertarian fuck-nut. Privacy is also cool, is what I’m saying.
I love dev work like this. Computers should be fun again.
