IMO - Racial/Ethnic/National Coding isn’t inherently wrong. But using that coding to push Stereotypes and oppressive mindsets is.
Rule of thumb, if you’re worried you will in some way cross that line, don’t do coding.
Which they claim is illegal and a violation of the DMCA
If you can own nothing, then nothing is theft.
If you don’t treat people as people because of a disability, you have both violated the social contract.
‘LinkedIn’
LinkedIn is as much Social Media as talking with your manager is Socializing.
It’s really plastic and fake feeling there, more so than anywhere else.
Nah, you don’t understand.
Your cat kills a dragon and drops it at your doorstep.
The treat isn’t a request.
It’s a demand. And the dragon is a warning.
We’re in the “dropping the act” phase of capitalism.
This is just standard monopoly-speak these days.
“Ron stood there with his Ron shirt.”
Next week: EU to ban web browsing, for security.
Seriously, why is the EU such an insane flipflop, going from one side of the political spectrum to the other in as little as a few hours sometimes?
Then the minimum wage needs to stop being an arbitrary number every couple of decades.
It needs to be a calculation, but the rich will never allow that.
Granting fascists access to other fascists to become super fascist groups is the most dangerous part of social media.
Given that most of the main social media platforms now are owned by capitalist fascist dickheads, its only going to get worse.
If social networking like Lemmy or Mastodon were more mainstream, we could just name, shame and isolate these monsters. If they can’t interact with people outside of their group without getting instanbanned or insta-defederated, then they’ll either delve deeper and deeper into their nonsense, until their instances gets raided or they’ll venture out of their alt-right safe-haven and get hit with reality and rejoin society.
Didn’t he already write a public letter explaining how what they did does reveal ads, but that it was unfair because they went ad hunting and searched for ads on a page?
Boohoo, just because they over-searched to see it happen, means that it can and does happen.
This is a failure on your part, not theirs. This is how scientific research is conducted.
Not that you understand science or handling failure, Elon.
“You’re not suffering enough”
Okay, I’m genuinely confused about the NextCloud hate.
I’ve been using it for a month, and It’s literally had 0 issues.
Nothing about it seems unstable or slow. I’m 99% certain if you’re having issues with nextcloud, it’s a hardware issue.
Drive: NextCloud, FileCloud or Synology Drive are options. But your Intel NUC might be past it’s due date if it cant handle something basic like NextCloud.
Meet: Skype and Teams exist for non-selfhosted options. As far as self-hosted options I’m not so sure for something like this.
IF you’re going to run your self-hosted server to run a minecraft server, get a webclient front-end. Even though it’s not FOSS and therefore a no-no with most lemmy users, AMP from Cube Coders is a great option, it starts a flat $10 fee for a permanent license. It has some fantastic features for remote backup among supporting other games.
However, if you’re a bit concerned about that there is Pterodactyl, which I’ve heard good things about, but I went with AMP because it supports other game servers like GMOD.
Rumble is functionally on par with YouTube in terms of video player and not having ads.
But Rumble is a Fascist cesspool filled with people who ran from YouTube when they implemented such controversial rules as “don’t say racial slurs” and “don’t spread misinformation.”.
Rumble has been funded by mostly Right Wingers and an agreement with Trump.
I fear more that YouTube’s harder push on forcing ads to users will result in a user-base exodus to Rumble.
The amount of comments I’ve seen on various YT videos about how YouTube is breaking adblockers and forcing ads on users while making it a TOS Violation, where the comment says something like “I’ll just move to rumble, lol”, is worrying.
