Right, but the person who prompted this image exists right now and their job will exist for the foreseeable future, so they need to not suck at their job until they’re no longer needed. I personally don’t see generative AI gaining the creative ability to define its own prompts in the near future, even if its generative outputs improve to the point where you don’t need an experienced prompter to ensure that hands aren’t deformed. Prompters are still going to be needed for highly specific prompts.

For sure, hands are generally getting better, but they are still a persistent problem. Mostly you need a prompter who isn’t lazy and is actually looking at the outputs.

It’s not an app issue, you’ll notice the same behavior in any Lemmy client. Once you’re subscribed successfully, new content should be coming in normally unless, again, there is an instance/federation issue.

I was able to get video streaming with audio working on Discord using pipewire, but it was a massive pain in the ass and somewhat unreliable. I don’t have a lot of experience with Jitsi, but I trust others’ recommendation there

Just going off the 10+ year history we had with this developer on Reddit, he has operated in good faith thus far and added features to Pro without charging for it, so I don’t think he’ll do that. But who knows. You’re buying today with no future guarantees. At least this time we know there’s no central organization that can pull the rug out from under Lemmy.

I don’t really know the best way to deal with that on the server API side, but I don’t think it’s to return them all as separate posts in the main feed. This is a problem that could clearly get much worse before it gets better because it could make the All/New feed really painful to read.

I think maybe you are confusing instances with communities? Instances are the servers you sign up your account on like lemmy.world or lemmy.ml whereas communities like asklemmy are hosted on an instance. I think there’s universal agreement that growing communities is generally a good thing because it leads to more content and discussion. Growing instances on the other hand isn’t super important (indeed there are going to be plenty of people like myself that are going to stick with a single user personal instance and be perfectly happy). I think the person you’re replying to was confused by the wording of your post.

I feel like this should only be a problem when users don’t make use of the crosspost functionality built into Lemmy (which ultimately should only be a technical problem that Lemmy clients need to address at the time of post creation). Aside from appropriate options in a client that should allow you to crosspost to multiple communities at once, I feel like this is a server side issue more than a client side one because the server shouldn’t be returning duplicates like this if posts are appropriately crossposted IMHO.

Believe it or not, we’re living in the most peaceful period of human history thus far. I’d recommend the book The Better Angels of Our Nature by Steven Pinker which talks about how far we’ve come. That said, I see the threat of global warming, lack of fresh water, famine, and energy scarcity becoming threats to the current status quo, though. If we don’t figure some things out as a species, we’re likely in for some turbulent times in the next hundred years.

That’s cool if you like it, but I prefer text to be much higher contrast against the background than that. Color is meant to highlight and accent IMHO.

Sync does have some cloud features (and I suspect push notifications will be one of them soon), but yeah, I understand paying for them isn’t for everyone.

Personally, I think it’d be nice if you could self-host just the bridge instances and connect them with beeper yourself, so that the part that isn’t e2e encrypted is running on software you can validate and hardware you control.

I 100% agree this would be a great solution. That’s what I thought this page was going to be at first until I kept reading and realized it’s just a config guide for the Matrix Ansible setup. I wish they didn’t say “self host Beeper” on that page at all because self hosting Matrix has absolutely nothing to do with the Beeper service other than their devs built the bridges that they’re showing you how to set up with Matrix.

It’s a “just asking questions” type of comment where the answers are pretty easy to find. It’s, at best, a poorly worded comment that could legitimately be seen as offensive and reads like a troll. I don’t see it as an effective criticism of Zionism because it lays out incorrect assumptions, asks bad questions, and mocks Judaism (e.g. “sky daddy”). I don’t think all of that necessarily qualifies as antisemitism, but there’s no inherent value in the comment to defend. I’d be curious which subreddit the user was banned from and it’s also possible this comment doesn’t exist in a vacuum and there could be a pattern of behavior that was considered.
