It is so depressing how much I lost as a kid.
My backup method was almost entirely optical. Oh well. I’ve kept myself from feeling too bad by keeping in mind that I am waaaaay too lazy to ever go digging through it anyway.

Wooooow.
What a strange time to be alive.
To be fair to our ancestors though, this isn’t new. They just change the target from time to time. Once they do their damage and everyone sees how ugly it is and gets behind the victims of their shit, they just switch targets.
“Well, I got a half black grandbaby, I reckon I’ll stop lynchin’. I’m sorry. You mean I can lynch a gay? Well heck! Yeeeehaw! Git over here fruitcake! Awwww shucks, you mean my grandbaby done growed up to be gay? Well, now I understand, it all makes sense. Can I lynch the trans? Wooooohooooo! Git over here deadname!”
Here in deep red farm country I can share my own personal observation.
30% seems about right. You’ve got your hardcore Trumpers that would back him if he were caught on video raping a 12 year old. They’d search, “Trump rape video real?” and comb through 400 or so top results all saying he did it, it’s irrefutable, and then they’d find a site that links to something like truepatriotredwhiteandbluebaldeaglefreedomforever1776foundingfathersconstitution.com and they’d take whatever it says as the holy and sacred truth. You know, because the deep state and all that.
Then you’ve got those people (like my uncle) who happen to be very religious and feel totally threatened by the satanic trans cult of gayness and black power. They don’t want Trump, they’re scared of his foreign policy, but they believe most of what he says is being said just to upset people. They’d rather get Haley, but it isn’t gonna happen. They’re going to vote for Trump because Jesus don’t like gay people and shit like that.
I would say (anecdotally in a place that voted more than 80% for Trump last time around) that around 5% of those people will sit the election out. The other 25% (probably less here honestly) who want a sane candidate still don’t want a democrat. If it means sacrificing our country to fascism, so be it. Most of them don’t believe that will happen though. They’ve been fed alternative facts and they’re convinced Jan 6 was ain tee fuh and the election was stolen.
Gods help us. Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Krishna, and anybody else that wanna look out for us.
I just found the one I have and it has an ARM processor. :(
I wasn’t gonna hack my switch, buuuuut.
I have one. It’s one of the higher end deals from a couple years ago (for a chrome book). I have been excited to work on it every time I’ve seen something like this posted.
I CAN’T FIND IT! Gaaaaah.
I seen the damn thing a thousand times. I wasn’t looking for it. Now? Gone. Nowhere.
Does this shit happen to anyone else?
I don’t have that one. I remember my cousin using it to animate dolls she drew on paint shop pro though. I don’t specifically remember it being animation shop, but I remember the name Jasc when she was showing me her work.
My library closed recently because of structural issues with the building. I finally made up my mind and drove over to get a card. What a bummer.
I wish I could help you bud. If I had money I wouldn’t be able to keep it for helping folks out, but I don’t, and I have no drive to get it.
I hope you have some good luck soon.
Those convenience fees are insane. What’s with that?
My uncle has money. Every problem from his siblings to his 5th cousins gets him a phone call haha.
As a fellow poor who happens to be floating comfortably right now, I’ll cross my fingers for you haha.
I have 15 bucks in the bank, but all of my bills are paid and I have a fridge stocked full of food (deep freezer took a shit recently and ruined a lot of it, but I’m still good) so I don’t need anything, but I know what it’s like to have my heart beating out of my chest with worry about how I’m gonna pull it all off. I haven’t experienced any crazy emergencies in a long time (knock on wood) and I’ve put some stuff up to sell in case that happens. I hope you get where I am. I hope you do better than I’m doing.
I’m glad I figgered it oot. All I miss are the video subs. I can live without them.
YouTube can’t get it right, I watched one video about police brutality 15 years ago and now they think I just want to watch people get pummeled by cops all day and be mad about it. I can’t just go subscribing to a community with content I like on there, gotta subscribe to individuals and hope the right stuff rolls in. I just don’t watch many videos these days.!
I grew up playing a 1965 Yamaha FG-150. I got a Martin when I was 18.
Guess which one I’m still playing today? :p
Sometimes cheap instruments can turn out very well.
As a dirt poor musician who grew up recording with a computer and a ham radio mixer I had rigged up, I was always disappointed when I’d hear my music on any setup that wasn’t mine. It never came out right.
Good headphones changed that. One day I’ll go back and remaster it all even though I have no clue what I’m doing.
I’m still rocking an old CA tv (it’s missing the R). It’s an L32WD12. It does 1080i.
Someone I knew bought it for over a thousand bucks back in the mid 2000s and one day half of the picture went black so they gave it to me.
A cable in the back of the tv was heating up and shrinking and disconnected itself. I took off the aluminum heat shield (which is what seemed to be causing the problem) and stuck a piece of a credit card in there between the cable and the connector to hold it down, taped the cable so it wouldn’t move much. I have been using it since about 2009. I’ve had to push the cable down a few times, so I just busted a hole in the back so I wouldn’t have to take it apart any more.
The most reliable car I ever owned was a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick Sport. I drove it for over a decade. It was the only car from my son’s childhood that he remembers. We got two more with identical parts to move stuff around when it broke.
Now he’s driving it. It’s all to hell at this point, but it’s sentimental to him. It isn’t his daily driver, but he still takes it out pretty often to ride around in the mountains.
That car is two years older than him.
I barely ever changed the oil in it. Speed shifted one transmission too long and had to replace that. The harmonic balancer took a shit once. Otherwise just coil packs and a battery from time to time. Any other parts were minor and yanked from the identical one that sat right beside it. He still has both. I hit a deer with the old one, he hit a deer with the other one before we parted it out. The front is rigged together.
I can’t believe it’s still going.
Mine is a sears video arcade.
I have an original 2600 too that my exes dad bought for her when she was little but it doesn’t work any more.
My console collection is stupid at this point. I have like 15 Sega Genesis consoles and I’m too sorry to sell them.

I can’t believe it’s been a year. Damn. I really didn’t think I’d make it. I half worried I’d go crawling back.
My last two comments, one year ago were, “Memmy for Lemmy. Been happy all day.” (though voyager is my app these days) and, “Thank you. I already love it. I hope this is where all of the old heads go.”
That was a response to my introduction to lemmy.world.
I meant it when I said I was leaving. I wasn’t 100% sure I could make it after using Reddit for so long, but here I am.
