Could be it honestly. :)

I live deep in the Appalachian mountains and I haven’t met a single person interested in the things that I am since I was a kid.
I’m so bad and hate socializing so much that I recently got the Mortal Kombat II deluxe arcade cabinet, the same dude kept joining my match every single time I played so I just stopped going online haha.
He contacted me and we talked once, and that was that.
I really like him too, I just can’t handle it. Even that tiny little bit of it.
I don’t know why I’m like that. I’m not bad at talking to people. I’ve been told I’m damn good at it. I’ve been told I’m charismatic and all that. There’s just something broken in me.
Probably comes from the abuse I suffered as a kid if I’m being honest. It was rough, and it trained me I guess.
But then again, my whole family is like me. I don’t even know 90% of them, but I can tell you that 90% of them do not have Facebook. The ones that do, they don’t ever post, they don’t ever like, nothing. It’s like it’s just who we are or something.
I have brothers who grew up in different households. Two of them never experienced any abuse as children, they were spoiled. They are just like me. They talk to no one.
I’ve done the whole therapy thing, I just do not have it in me to have friends.
I haven’t had a desire to make a friend since I was a kid.
I do get lonely. I’ll have a thought that I’d like to share and I know I drive my wife crazy.
I wouldn’t even care if I could find a way to make some money. Right now I’m a stay at home dad. That’s what my wife wanted me to do. I was making money on the stock market, not taking big risks, just making above minimum wage. Then the election happened and now that’s over.
Thank you for caring.
Heeeey it’s me. Totally socially crippled.
I don’t even know how to maintain relationships, don’t have an interest in trying. There’s something wrong with me.
My only friend on this planet is my uncle.
I can’t speak for other people, but if lemmy.world were to shut down today I’d just pick another server.
I will admit, it was confusing and almost turned me off at first. I was very upset about the whole deal with third party apps on Reddit. My daughter gave me the whole email analogy and it cleared my hesitation to join Lemmy.
I don’t know how it is today, but I had to apply to join world when I first got on. It would be awesome if an app would sign a person up for, say, three different servers and sync settings between them. Something goes down, wouldn’t even notice.
Assholes ruin everything though and making it easier for bot accounts to exist would end badly.
I don’t know.
When I first got on here it was a mess. It didn’t work half the time and when it did no content was being generated. I stuck it out though and I’m glad I did.
I’m definitely not the right person to come up with any solutions.
Man. You just gave me an idea (which would matter if I wasn’t a complete idiot).
Instead of servers that all attempt to be a sort of clone of Reddit, servers could focus on content similar to the way subreddits work.
So you’d join any one of these servers and federate with other servers just like now, only content would be focused between servers.
Example:
This server is a games server. It has /c/games, /c/fallout, /c/vintagegaming, etc.
This server will focus on news and politics. It has /c/worldnews, /c/marketnews, etc.
Sure, it would still have the issue of being fractured, but it would narrow it down so much that it would be more appealing and easier to navigate.
It’s probably too late for that.
Ultimately, I’m happy with the fediverse. Algorithms aren’t dictating what I see. There’s no profit incentive that will lead to bad decisions, so when bad decisions are made, folks will talk about it and come to a solution.
I miss old Reddit, but it’s gone.

Minion farm remembers.
I can’t believe that gif exists. I expected to find more cheesy confederate minion pics though.
Edit:
Oh my God I need to make a bunch of crazy dumb minion memes centered around the Pepperidge farm meme and see if people post them unironically. You know they will.

There’s something wrong with me though. I’ve spent most of my life alone and my biggest fear has always been centered around being asked to leave my space.
Of course when you get older that gets harder. I’m lucky at the moment. I’m a stay at home dad who goes to spend time working on various projects with my uncle when I’m free.
If he died tonight I’d have no social life at all.

Damn. I haven’t built a new computer in 10 years.
Are we seriously here now? DAAAAAAMN
I got old.
theangryseal@lemmy.worldto Games@sh.itjust.works•Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament are now free on the Internet Archive, and Epic says that's A-okayEnglish2·8 months agoMe too. My favorite memories come from Unreal Tournament on Dreamcast. I had this terrible, ancient LCD projector that overheated and turned off over and over again. It had to be opened, so to block the light I stuck a black sheet over it and stuck a fan in the window.
We had a huge screen that honestly was probably barely visible, and we had a blast.

You want some fun that is modern, somehow ancient, and beautiful? Oh, and challenging, but if you persist it is very rewarding?
Cuphead. I fucking love that game. I play it and replay it and play it some more. I have waaaaaay too many hours in that game on Steam and on Switch. I think it’s the only game I ever got all achievements on.

I haven’t looked back. I called, I begged, and as far as I could tell everyone else was good to go.
I only got the PS3 so I could game with my childhood friends. They eventually stopped playing together anyway after a bunch of us died off to the opioid epidemic.

Not Nintendo, still, I found it interesting.

It’s all I need really. I’m about to inherit my daughter’s old gaming laptop though so I’m not sure what I’ll do then. Definitely Linux with a small partition for windows to play some VR games. I’d say I’ll still use the Steam deck for most things though because it’s so portable.

I still play the hell out of Source though. My brother and I did nothing else one summer growing up. I spent all of my 20s playing CS:Source and WoW.
I wish I had time for either these days.
I can’t believe it’s been a year. Damn. I really didn’t think I’d make it. I half worried I’d go crawling back.
My last two comments, one year ago were, “Memmy for Lemmy. Been happy all day.” (though voyager is my app these days) and, “Thank you. I already love it. I hope this is where all of the old heads go.”
That was a response to my introduction to lemmy.world.
I meant it when I said I was leaving. I wasn’t 100% sure I could make it after using Reddit for so long, but here I am.
Yeah, and there are decent ways to do that, which many successful companies and individuals manage to pull off every day.
I have no horse in this race because I don’t use any of this stuff, but I despise the direction everything is going.
Human parasites are never happy with being well fed it seems. They aren’t happy unless they gorge until they get fat and explode, or they’re so greedy they end up killing their host.
