“Then later, out come the intestines”

If you’re going to get nitpicky we could focus on how much heat the concrete retains vs plant life which can absorb and use the energy. All the people with concrete or rock yards around here are super hot, my dog and I have to run by in the summer. Paving vast surfaces is a poor alternative to landscaping. The soil underneath will dry and the animals, insects, microflora, etc will all be forced out and that part of the earth will just be dead.
But really it just looks dumb and Jackie planted some of those trees.

Cancelled my account this morning, enough is enough.

For real, people have plenty of reasons to be pissy with AI, but if it has the power to destroy the current internet, there are massive silver linings.
Sadly whatever replaces it will be even worse.

All friends are transactional friends when you’re that wealthy, which should be depressing to them, but they carry on and fuck the hollow models and that’s that.

I ordered a laptop from BB for an executive at work, they tried delivering it on a Saturday and texted me about it, offered to deliver elsewhere instead, so I’m like, sure bring it to my house. Then when they get there, it’s a third party delivery service (not Doordash but like it) - woman and her boyfriend - hat out looking for a tip. Umm I didn’t ASK for some weird tip-based delivery service, I thought they were UPSing that shit. I can’t put tips on my corporate card, for laptop delivery fees?! So I looked like the asshole after they booked it across town. Haven’t ordered from Best Buy again, what a terrible customer experience.

I told them their “MEN DON’T POST HERE” posts on the frontpage are hostile, which is the reaction they got from a half dozen folks who were talking about the subject. I talked about my experience as a gay man, wanting more community here on Lemmy, but that I wouldn’t start communities or threads saying “NO STRAIGHT PEOPLE POST HERE” to do it. And I pointed out their community has decided there are only two ways to deal with it.
I get that I broke their rule, and I can be banned there for that - but they didn’t ban me for being a man, they banned me for hurting their feelings.
And now I can’t use LGBTQ and Trans communities as a result. OK, fuck turtlesareneat, he shouldn’t be allowed in queer communities cause he hurt a mod’s feelings.

Yep food pantries will repackage food but rarely process or cook it because that’s a whole different animal.
But, many food pantries I’ve worked with had ways to offload large amounts of things creatively, it’s how I got the best pear gelato I’ve ever had in my life.

They will just disable the mute buttons. It happens around here all the time, marking them accelerates it.
I now avoid any gas station with immutable ads. But if I am in a pinch. The longest sharpest key on your key ring can slide right in and puncture the speaker, thus solving the issue more permanently.
Had to check that this wasn’t written by Joss Lake as this seems like a device/power from his novel Future Feeling

Yep they basically give the handle away for free anyway just to get you on the blades. Giving away accessories at no-cost-to-them is totally on brand. I doubt many other companies will do it, as accessories are usually moneymakers.

Do you have any nieces or nephews or cousins or maybe your dentist sister‘s girlfriend’s kid just enrolled? I’ve had success getting them to forward me confirmation codes and things that I sent to their address.

Tourism is big money, all this anti-Mexico rhetoric is hurting them in more ways than one.

You know it’s bad when Shadow IT starts migrating your inventories.
This is interesting. I’ve been setting up our non-profit’s new grant-funded Azure VM, then Wordpress site, then CiviCRM, then hardening it all, and I’m hoping to offer this as a (volunteer) turnkey service to a few other nonprofits in town. And it’s amazing to me how many hours this still takes, and how out of reach it is for the average nonprofit.
