You’ll have to forgive me, as I haven’t tested this personally on Linux yet, but this webcam is a USB 3 device and doesn’t have any special drivers. It should work plug-n-play.

The reason I bring it to your attention is that it has a nice physical lens for focusing, aperture, and zoom; all separate. It’s 4k 30 fps and I can confirm that the picture is really nice.

Looking at the documentation it looks like it relies on Mistral’s python tooling to work. I’m fairly dumb, so I don’t know if the tool suggestion coming from Mistral is from some kind of separate neural net or as some kind of special response you have to parse (or that their client parses for you?).

Mistral Instruct v0.3 added in function calling, but I don’t know if its method for implementation is the same/compatible. Also, it is fairly new and wasn’t released all that long ago. Hopefully we’ll get there soon. :)

I don’t think that Libby itself is. There’s DRM and while there is probably a way to strip it, I don’t think that is easy and/or publicly shared. But Overdrive, which is Libby’s predecessor, allows for DRM free MP3 downloads. But they’ve been trying to sunset Overdrive for a long time. The Windows desktop program needed to download the MP3 files is no longer linked on their site, for example (but is still downloadable if you know the exact link). I’m honestly not sure why it even still works unless it’s to comply with some ancient contract they have with a library somewhere.

Unironically the library. Then just use something like Audiobookshelf to organize your collection.

Probably, but that assumes that the transcribers went from video to video following the algorithm. I’d suspect that they would randomize the videos they chose somehow figured out some other distribution.

Well Trump wasn’t wrong. Pence is cooked in politics as long as the MAGA crowd run the Republican party, which I think they will for the foreseeable future. I’m sure he’ll find some kind of consulting gig or maybe a podcast or radio show that panders to the ultra religious evangelicals or something, but I can’t imagine him getting elected anywhere for now.

Absolutely this is the case. A lot of democrats are going to think that they’ve got this in the bag because “Trump is worse!” They’re want to live in echo chambers and think that Biden is doing great because the other option is too scary for them to admit to themselves. And anyone that prods that cognitive dissonance will be yelled at and shouted down with cries of “Russian bot” and “You’re helping the fascists”.

Meanwhile, Trump republicans and “normal” republicans (is there such a thing now?) are all rallying behind their God King, and everyone “in the middle” (i.e. uninformed people that don’t keep up with the news, and what they do know is surface level at best) just sees a doddering old grandpa vs a charismatic flimflam salesman.

I want to enthusiastically support Biden. It would be great if he were earning my support. But his behavior and campaigning are forcing me to merely reluctantly hold my nose to vote for him.

My internet experience has been slower since switching to Mastodon and Lemmy/Kbin. And it’s so nice. The things I see are more interesting. The conversations are usually more well thought out. And lowest common denominator dopamine content isn’t being driven into my eyeballs by Algorithms. I’ve legitimately been happier since the Reddit API debacle.
