Most TVs are dumb if you never hook them up to the Internet. I don’t allow my OLEDs on the Internet generally and simply use a different device to stream and do all the things (webOS is actually pretty cool but LG is obnoxious like this sometimes). Even if your TV is good enough, this shit happens anyway. At least if my shield gets obnoxious, I can replace it with a different device.

webhead@lemmy.worldto [Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•What makes a great burger for you? On the contrary, what can ruin it?English41·11 months agoNah it’s not that hard to make a decent burger from frozen. I don’t know WTF people are doing to mess that up. You just put it on the grill and don’t overcook it lol.
webhead@lemmy.worldto Android@lemmy.world•Nova Launcher, savior of cruft-filled Android phones, is on life supportEnglish7·11 months agoThank you. I’ve been thinking the same thing. People keep posting things that aren’t remotely close to Nova. I’m beginning to think there’s just nothing else at their level. Lawnchair seems like the closest so far but it’s still not customizable enough and the Google feed implementation randomly broke and I couldn’t get it to work again (amongst other annoyances and performance issues).
webhead@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How much maintenance do you find your self-hosting involves?English2·1 year agoI opted weekly so I could store longer time periods. If I want to go a month back I just need 4 instead of 30. At least that was the main Idea. I’ve definitely realized I fucked something up weeks ago without noticing before lol.

webhead@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Stuck on Let's Encrypt certificate issuance due to firewall issue even after opening necessary portsEnglish71·1 year agoThis is the answer. Pretty much every ISP blocks 80 They say it is because worms use it blah blah but it is exactly what you think. They don’t want you running a web server. You’re probably going to have to do the DNS challenge instead.
webhead@lemmy.worldto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•It's funny how google pretends the music on YouTube isn't straight up piracy and everyone just goes along with itEnglish3·2 years agoAll I’m aware of is the don’t recommend channel option. I still get stupid fucking channels (like emergency awesome) when I search. Am I missing the option somewhere?
webhead@lemmy.worldto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•i gotta ask... why so many plex over kodi users?English11·2 years agoHave you used Plex before? No they don’t need to know anything. They sign up and you grant them access (or even just give them a user in your home and they just sign in by texting you a code). It is as easy or easier than signing into your typical streaming app. Just extremely easy. Jellyfin is great and I hope they keep going but they’re not at the same level as Plex. I’ve been using Plex for nearly a decade now and I’ve tried out jellyfin a few times. I’ll keep trying because I don’t want to use Plex forever but I’m not going to pretend they’re the same. Hopefully they will be eventually.
webhead@lemmy.worldto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Advanced pirates, whats a tip others might not know?English16·2 years agoSo my question is, whose name is on the seedbox? I’ve seen people say this…is it one of the special hosts that will just send you a notice and not tell the complaint filer who you are? Connecting to a VPN or proxy has been easy enough and cheaper lol.
If it’s any consolation I don’t think any of them I’ve run into REQUIRE Internet to use them as a dumb screen. I wouldn’t buy one that did either. Lol.
