I gotta say between the writers strike and switching to lemmy and mastodon, my mental health has been a lot better. I didn’t realize how much watching clips of late night talk shows was giving me a “doom scrolling” effect. I’m also getting to catch up on a huge backlog of TV shows and movies I’ve been meaning to see. I definitely empathize with all the creatives losing their livelihood, but Im ok with this strike lasting until the execs start feeling some of the same pain.
I’m 36, have had windows mobile pocket PCs thru HTCs and eventually Samsung Galaxies, and have absolutely been shamed several times by different friend groups over the last decade plus lfor not having iMessage. It def ramped up in the later 2010s

Lemmy/mastodon for mindless browsing has replaced reddit/Twitter for me. For specific research/googling on a niche topic, I still find reddit threads popping up all the time so I’ll still click those to learn more, but they web browser only.
I think by that point ChatGPT would be more like Apollo, keeping the knowledge of humanity. I feel like one of the more corporate AIs will go full HADES, I’m thinking Bard. It will get a mysterious signal from space that switches it’s core protocol from “don’t be evil” to “be evil.”
