Well, yes, sounds stupid, but I can’t figure out the name of the mod who deleted my message. It looks like it IS possible, but I just don’t know how.
You can do it with the Tesseract web UI. Probably others as well, but the default Lemmy web UI is pretty dinkum and seems to be missing quite a few of the more detailed features. You are correct that this information is indeed exposed by the API.

Now the question is, what are you going to do with this information?

That is a very good question. I don’t know the answer yet. But I’m kind of tired of being bullied by mods. 0004 in my nickname isn’t just a nice number I like for no reason.
Being asked to be nice in somebody else’s garden is not bullying you. It’s not bullying you to ask you not to be a bully.
Lemmy explicitly started hiding the names from the modlog because users bullying mods is a much bigger issue than the reverse due to the asymetry of lots of users having main-character-syndrom Vs. only a few mods having to deal with all that.
users bullying mods
That’s cute. Especially taking into account the asymmetry of capabilities for the bullying.
Says the person that has apparently never modded any popular community 🙄
I find that not acting like a dillhole is usually an effective strategy, also.
Doesn’t work, I’ve tried.
And this advice of yours isn’t actually “nice”. Straightforwardly rude. And you know that.
