The first time through the game, up until I got into the Grymforge, everything was pretty normal. But here things start to break majorly and I can’t even figure out why or if it’s just a random bug that not everyone would experience.
I get the quest to kill the duergar from the myconids, find their little camp with the boats, fight then all and return to the myconids. I am then tasked with killing the True Soul Nere at their encampment across the water. At the same time, I have a quest to rescue the Deep Gnomes the duergar are using as slaves. All good. I take the boat across, push the dude who shows up on the trip and kill all the duergar again. We arrive, and it’s like nothing happened. I’m talking to everyone pretending to be friends and looking around the place before planning how to fight everything. I haven’t left the boat area yet, talking to all I see and everyone keeps saying Nere is trapped and needs rescuing. But then I go up the stairs leaving the docks, go left until I enter a room with lava and see Nere, dead. Not trapped. Not even like 10 feet from the duergar telling me he needs help. I turn around to go back and maybe tell someone but all the NPCs are now gone. The whole dungeon is now empty except for some animated armor and all the mini bosses around the actual forge.
I figured this has to do with me killing all the duergar before even arriving at the main camp someone, but now I have arrived here on an entirely new guy, having not killed a single duergar yet, and the same damn thing happens. Even weirder, despite him no longer being harassed, Shitstick still warns me about the cursed lands when I attempt to enter the elevator for the first time. The quest to rescue the Deep Gnomes is stuck with a marker that leads to absolutely nothing. The only gnomes I have found in the place was one who threatened to blow us all up and the dead ones being kicked into the water right near the boat’s arrival point.
What is up with this? Has anyone else had this problem at all? What is supposed to happen here? Like, can I actually talk to Nere, alive, and not simply through Speak with Dead? It feels like it’s skipping over an entire quest the moment I arrive and just triggering the end point.
The other is that for some reason, everyone is acting like Lae’zel killed Shadowhart and that Shadowhart is absent from the party; despite that never happening and the cutscenes being made even funnier because she’s just standing there in the background while people say she’s dead.
Definitely a bug, it looks like the quest is skipping over to the “rested too many times” resolution. You can get Nere and the gnomes out alive, normally.
So this is supposed to happen, kinda? I didn’t rest this time around but I certainly did the first time after the fights. I’ve had the problem of previous save states keeping even after a reload (like items I found before reloading are still in my inventory and can also be picked up again so Inhave 2); I wonder if having another save where this is triggered normally is the problem.
I got the deep gnome bug and also the bug where the adamantine forge gets stuck after making one item. Seems like something they will fix but yes, annoying
Is the forge but known to trigger after two items? Two sets of armor, and that’s where I’m at currently. No way out. 🥹
Also got 2 items. Just used the fast travel to get out.
Is it not letting you pop the old mould out? This one I haven’t got. I was able to make 4 things. I dunno if you can make more; I only found 4 pieces of mithtil. At least once, though, I had to pull the lever to release the mould twice before it did its thing.
Didn’t know there was more mithril to be found. I had two pieces so I just made two items and left :)
Good to know there is stuff I missed for the second time I play ;)
Some of the areas in that map can ONLY be reached if you use a jump or flying spell to reach them. And they can often be hidden as well as a Dark Souls map hides things. Especially the Healing Church area; shit feels like it is straight out of Bloodborne. A couple of the mithtil veins were hidden like that.
Yes, far travel is an option, though I was assuming going back wouldn’t be possible, should I find more adamantine afterward.
Bugged for me too. After making the second item, the lava refused to disappear and I couldnt elevate the platform. I was able to pop out the mold and retrieve forged items.
But the solution (that isnt fast travel) is to go into turn-based mode. The lava doesnt disappear unless you are in turn-based.
Might be worth going back for, then, thanks! 🤘🏼
Same here, I assumed it was intended as a balance decision or something. And I only had two hunks of mithral anyway.
I felt like I missed stuff here because I wandered to the forge while both of those quests were active and nere died on me after forging 1 item. Everyone was gone. I thought I was going the right way and found a forge along the way.
There is apparently a bug where if you long rest in the forge or too many times before the forge, it just triggers an event where Nere has died and the slaves are lost. That’s what happened to me, and sounds like what happened to you.
